CHAPTER FOUR

“Marry! Are you trying to get me bold? Just shave my head and stop this awful torture, it’s enough torture that I have to go to this bloody tea party.” I finally let my anger out from holding it all in from when I awoke.

Marry insisted on choosing my dress, shoes and doing my hair, which I am regretting my ‘yes’ too. She has combed on my hair for minutes torturing me, I feel like those little girls in the movie where their mother would do their and while the mother combs it’s as if they we having a war with their daughter’s hair.

“Ouch!” I shrieked for the hundredth time, “one more, Marry. I bloody dare you, one more!” I treated causing her to move the brush away from my black locks. “Just leave half my hair down, Marry.”

While Marry continued on torturing me, I put on my mascara and lip gloss. My eyes happen to catch the sight of the scars on my arms. “Would this dress look good with a cardigan?”

“Cardigan? But it’s boiling outside, you’ll only sweat.”

“Actually, I haven’t been feeling well, I think I’m coming up with a cold, I am going to need that cardigan, Marry. When you’re done, please do fetch it for me, I’d like to leave soon.” Marry nodded and pitted one last stroke of hair in place and left to fetch my needs.

I grab my lip gloss and a few other things to be shoved in my bag since I’d be needing it later. Just as I made my way to the door, my eye cause my image on the mirror making stop and walked back to the mirror to check myself the last time and meeting Marry for my cardigan before leaving.

“Wow, this is nearly as old as the mansion back home.” I muttered in awe as I eyed the marble walls. Just for that moment as I was admiring the mansion I forgot about my irritation towards the dress I’ve been waiting.

“I’ll come pick you up later in college, if you need earlier do give me a ring.” John announced when he opened the door for me, I waved him off and walked to the entrance where I was greeted by an elderly lady.

Her smile was peaceful, most rich have those irritating jealously smile once they look at me, but she didn’t however then again she didn’t know my past. I read the wrinkles on her face and could tell that is has seen many bad in her days.

“They said you were young, and I had an image of a mid-forty year old woman with wrinkles in my head.” She greeted with a smile.

“What makes it so?” I smiled and walked to her side as she guided our way to the garden where tea was.

“Rich, Scarlett Rich.” She handed her out her hand for me to shake. “Youngest billionaire indeed, Miss Cabrera.” She giggled, “How old are you?”

“Seventeen, I’ll be turning eighteen in just a few months. I am sure to see you and the Mister for the debut, will I not, Mrs Rich?”

“Consider our calendars’ mark, oh and darling do call me Scarlett.” She giggled, for a woman that has seen much she was surely warm hearted, “when my friends told me that the youngest billionaire, Beatrix Cabrera moved here I thought of a mid-forty year old woman. I never thought that anyone could be this young and a billionaire.” She continued.

“Well, it wasn’t by choice, I’m an orphaned. I lost my family at the age of five, and everything got handed down to me.” I managed a smile but her’s slowly faded into a frown, “don’t feel sorry, it’s nothing.” I smiled once more make the awkward tension faded.

The rest of the walk to the garden, we both kept our silence. The garden was beautiful with its colorful flowers and different kinds of plant. Scarlett introduces me to everyone as we pass them, the tea and biscuits were great, the people were nice yet I haven’t Mister Rich.
