It was a normal day at Yuei, with no exams, villain attacks and such. Just an average sunny day in school. But of course things are not so normal when you attend a hero school. Currently all the students of class 1-A were at the training grounds having a class session with their teacher, Aizawa Shouta.
"Alright, today we're going to learn something very important in the hero life. Something all kinds of heroes need to have in mind when on a mission".
The class stood attentively in their hero costumes, waiting impatiently for the words of their teacher.
"Rescue Operations".
The class burst into a series of excitement and cheers. Rescue Missions weren't exactly their forte, at least some of them, but it was something they knew they could handle. "Alright!! We're gonna be saving dummies today", Kirishima yelled out with a toothy grin. "We can put our lesson from the provincial license exams to good use", Yayorouzu cheered excitedly. "And I can finally show off what I learnt with my quirk", Tsuyu added.
Uraraka stared at her classmates, also quite excited about the exercise. "Wow, everyone looks so excited", she said to Izuku, who smiled at her. "Yeah. After the license exam we had, everyone seems really pumped up about putting what we learnt from then to practice".
"Well said Midoriya, exactly why I'm going to change things a bit".
"Huh?", everyone turned back to Aizawa in confusion as he continued. "I know you all handled some difficult rescue events and even had to face a pro while doing so. But not all rescue missions are the same. Back in the exam you had to rescue those who were conscious and easy to spot. But what would you do when handling an unconscious victim, someone who you would be incapable of hearing and on top of that stuck in a sticky and difficult situation? Most of all what will you do when handling a fully aware child in the middle of a battle scene?"
"A kid?", Kaminari thought out loud trying to process all the teacher had said. "Yes, kids. The exam made it look as though all victims of all ages would act the same way in all situations. But that isn't true, at all. You would meet all kinds of people with different quirks and personalities to match. There will be people who would follow all your instructions, but there are those who would protest especially when you have to save someone who doesn't support heroes so much. You would have to save people with high tempers and an annoying ego or pride", he glanced at Katsuki for a split second before continuing, "Children would be the most difficult in situations like this. They have the tendency of doing what first comes to their mind, ranging from wanting to reach safety by any cost to assisting the heroes in battle. Children, especially those from ages eight to twelve tend to make very rational decisions at times of distress, and the cherry on top just had to be the fact that you are very unaware of what their quirks are and how they could use it against you. So yes some of what you learnt during the exam may help you, but you would have to set aside the idea you had about the victims. It is true they would need some form of reassurance, but you must learn how exactly to handle them. Is that understood?".
The class finally realized that this training was not going to be the same as the examination and that just got them on edge. "Y-yes sir".
