A wild mop of short black hair, sparkling grey eyes and lips the colour of steamed beetroot. i have to be dreaming. I pinch myself. Nope, definitely not dreaming! She's real. And I'm standing in the middle of the main walkway at St. Trinity's catholic high school, drooling over this girl I have never seen before in my life, walk through the front gates, wind whipping her short hair into her eyes. I am totally going to hit on her. This is undeniable seeing as I am a teenage boy and she is probably the hottest girl i have eve seen in my life. I catch myself staring a quickly look down. "Excuse me?" I look up to see her standing right in front of me, a cute, crooked smile playing across her face. Shit. She saw me staring. Ok, play it cool. "Um, hi, I'm Oliver." I say, "What can I do for you?" Shit. Now I sound like a dork or something. So much for playing it 'cool.' "Hey, I'm Alexis, I'm new here. Um, I was wondering if you could show me to the front desk." Few! She didn't catch me staring. "Yeah, sure. Right this way." I reply, happy she asked me and not some other guy. "So, what school did you move from?" I ask trying to start conversation so i can hear her soft yet sexy voice some more. "Well I actually just moved back here from Ireland, so I doubt you'd know the school. Plus the name was celtic and I still can't pronounce it properly." She laughs in reply. "You don't sound Irish. Sorry, that sounded rude. Er, You have an Aussie accent just like me." I say awkwardly. "Well, yes. I was born in Ireland but we moved here when I was three, then back again a year and a half ago, so yeah, I don't have an accent. Sorry, I just pretty much gave you my life story." She laughs again. I like the sound of her laugh. It makes me want to join in. "It's ok. Sounds exciting. Ive only ever lived here; Byron bay, the town of hippies." I do laugh this time. "Well technically we're in Lismore right now. And yes, I am very lucky to get to travel, but i would call it super exciting or anything." "So do you live in Byron?" I ask, probably to eagerly "I do in fact, yes." She replies "Awesome. Well if you ever need a tour guide, or a friend, just ask." "Will do. But how might I reach you?" She asks cheekily. "Well I'll put my number in your phone, and yours in mine and I'll find you on Facebook." "Sounds good." She smiles. "My Facebook name is Alexis De'More." She says as she passes me her phone. "Sounds French. I thought you were Irish." I say. "I said I was born in Ireland. My mums Irish but my dad is, in fact, French. Or at least has a french father." She says pausing thoughtfully and then does that cute laugh again. "Alright. Well my Facebook name is Oliver James and here is my number." I say passing her her phone back. "Well thank you for walking me. See you at recess I guess." She says smiling. "Will do." I say back.
As I walk to class Im thinking one thing; Alexis De'More. It has a nice ring to it. I smile to myself and walk into class. Late on my first day back. What would my mother say? I chuckle and walk through the door leading to hell as we know it.
"Oliver! Late on your first day back! Well I never." Ms. Hampton declares as I find a desk. "And missing mass too!" "I'm sorry Ms. I was showing a new girl to the office and got distracted." The distracted part was probably not a smart thing to say but oh well. "Ah, I see. Well I guess you can have detention for three lunches instead of five for helping her out." "Thank you Ms."
The teachers aren't all bad but what can I say, It's school! your not supposed to like the teachers.
About ten minutes later Alexis walks through the door to my biology class. Ms. Hampton realises she must be the new girl and stops writing to greet her. "Ah, you must be Alexis De'More. I'm Ms. Hampton. Oliver over there said he helped you find your way to the office?" Of course age would ask that. "Yes Ms. He did." Alexis replies. "Well class, this is our new student Alexis. I hope you welcome her and treat her politely. You may take your seat Miss De'More." Ms. Hampton says. "Thank you Ms." Alexis replies. She walks to the back of the room and sits at the desk behind me, next to Amber Herring and Thomas Reed.
"Now." Exclaims Ms. Hampton, "Please open to page 44 in your biology text books."

At recess it is raining and Alexis is nowhere to be found. I haven't seen her since we parted after our first morning class with Ms. Hampton and really want to see her, maybe even show her off to the guys. Im not one of those guys but she is extremely hot and I can't help but wonder what it would be like to kiss those unnaturally red lips.
All through my next block Im day dreaming about Alexis (yes, guys day dream) and wondering what classes she's in and if I'll see her at lunch. Of course as soon as it is almost lunch it starts to rain and I secretly hope she doesn't have a car so that I can offer her a lift back to Byron.
As soon as we're let out of class I continue my search for her and find her huddled under a dripping tree trying to stay out of peoples way. As I walk over I catch her eye and she gives me a small, weary smile. "How you holding up?" I ask as I reach her. "Fine." Is her short answer. Then she adds; "Trying to keep a low profile. I hate attracting attention. That's why Im dreading the buss ride home." "I've got some wheels if you wanna lift." I say taking my chance. "Um, ok. If you promise you won't drive recklessly." "I promise." I say smiling. "Then we've got a deal." She says smiling back. "Yes!" I say, not realising I said it out loud. Alexis laughs at me and I say "Shit! Did I just say that out loud?" "Mhmm!" She says with a cheeky grin. "Um, well..." I have no idea what to say. "I wanna be friends." I try with a questioning tone to my voice that she can probably tell means 'I wanna kiss you.' Alexis laughs again and miraculously the sun comes back out. "That's a great coincidence." I laugh and Alexis looks quite abashed. "Um, yeah." She replies with a fake sounding laugh, "I guess it is."
We walk over to the cafeteria together and eat while chatting about little bits and pieces. Then we part ways and go to our classes. Its to bad we only have one together but I guess it's only for tuesdays.
After school I find Alexis leaning against a pole in front of the parking lot looking distracted. "Hey babe." I say cheekily, trying to lighten the mood. "Sorry, that was a joke. Just trying to make you smile." I add quickly glancing at my shoes, then back up again at her face where she is smiling. "Thats alright." She answers, "Which ones yours?" "The orange truck." I reply smiling. "Nice." Alexis says as we approach my truck. "Guys don't usually go for daring, bright or fun colours." She adds with a smile. "Well orange just so happens to be the team colour of my favourite soccer team and also my favourite colour." I reply as I unlock my truck. "Saved up for this baby since I was twelve. With a little help from my dad. Ok, allot." I say laughing. "Does she have a name?" Alexis asks with a chuckle. "Well I call her the tiger but the guys call her pumpkin as a joke." I say. "Awesome." Exclaims Alexis.
The drive home is long and there for awesome. Of course one of the first questions I ask is "So, do you have a boyfriend?" Alexis laughs and replies "All guys ask that! And no, I do not." "Well how many have you had?" I ask curiously. "Oh, why thousands!" She replies cheekily. "Nah I'm just joking. I've had one. What about you?" She asks in return. "Well I am very much single and i have had two previous girlfriends. First dumped me after a month, second left me for another guy." I say. "Ouch." Alexis replies. "Yeah. What about you? What happened with your guy?" I ask. "He died in a car crash after we had a fight about his driving and I got out of the car." She replies solemnly. "God, I'm sorry." "Me too. That he died anyway. It wasn't going to work out." "What was his name?" "You ask so many questions! His name was Theodore." "Fancy. Mine were Isabella and Claire." I say. "And I only ask so many question cause I want to get to know you." I add. "Yeah I wanna get to know you too. You sen like a great guy." She says with that gorgeous smile back on her lips." "Why thank you. You are definitely a great girl." I say winking at her, though I'm not sure she fought it for I kept my eyes on the road.
When we get into Byron, Alexis shows me where she's lives. "Wanna come in?" She asks. I'd love to but I've got to get home quick cause mum is getting home from Sydney in half an hour and I got to be there to greet her. Some other time though?" I say. "Sure. Anytime. Thanks so much for the lift." She replies. "Anytime." I say smiling, "And no problem."
I drive home in a very happy state. I can't wait to see her tomorrow. I am definitely falling for her already.
