The rising of the moon kept my mind occupied with curious thoughts while Jessie, my best friend, complained about how she wanted Ice cream.

I thought it was insane since it was 11 o'clock at night but who was I to deprive her of her ice cream.

When we arrived at the dainty little ice cream shop called "32 Below" there was a sketchy man outside with tattoos and a long scar across his left eye, leaning against the wooden wall.

We thought nothing of it and went inside. When we entered, the jingle above the door was enough of a warning for the cashier to come up to the counter from outback.

As we started getting closer to the counter Jessie poked me on the side and said jokingly,

"I bet the guy from outside is in a big tough gang, and my sources told me they were looking for blonde girls named Ashley. You should be careful." With that she gave me a playful wink.

"Maybe they could make an exception and take you with me, I mean who else will keep me sane," I replied.

After a beat of silence, we broke into fits of laughter. When we finally composed ourselves, we finished the walk up to the counter.

"One mint ice cream, and one strawberry ice cream for the lady" I giggled.

When we got our ice cream, we sat in a small booth next to a huge window and if you came there during the day, it was as if you could see the whole world.

Once we finished our ice cream and threw the napkins in the trash, we exited through the squeaky brown screen door to start the long trek home.

When we got outside the creepy man with the scar was gone, and the moon was at its peak in the sky.

I looked at my phone to see it was 12:00 and we had been in there for an hour.

Walking down the road a bit I saw a cars light beam out of the corner of my eye. When it got closer, I saw it was a white van.

I thought it would have passed but as it got closer it slowed down so it was at pace with us.

When I looked to see who the driver was, the windows were tinted black.

I started getting scared and whispered to Jessie asking if she could slightly jog ahead of me, seeing as I wanted to know they were after.

When she started to jog at an even pace in front of me and the car didn't move its pace from me, I really started panicking.

Someone was after me and I didn't want to find out who.

Suddenly the van stopped, and a sudden rush of relief came over me thinking the van just wanted to stop for a store, but when I looked around, we were on a deserted road in the woods and Jessie was still ahead of me.

That's when I screamed at her to run. At the distance she was at, she didn't hear me.

I ran up to her with a heavy beating heart and several footsteps pounding the ground behind me.

I gripped her arm and yanked her forward with me.

Before we could get away a white cloth with a foul smell covered both mine and Jessies mouths.

My breath was coming out in heavy pants from running so much so I breathed in the smell from the cloth.

As I tried controlling my rapid breaths my eyes started getting heavy and I felt weaker.

Within less then 10 seconds I was out cold and the last thing I remember seeing is the petrified look on Jessies face...
