I looked over to him in shock. He was rejecting me?
"What?" I asked him, not fully sure if I had heard him correctly.
"I want you off pack lands within the hour," he growled back.
"Wait, no. Scott, please." I was panicking. I had no where to go, my family was here.
"I, Scott McFarley, future Alpha of the Alger Pack, reject Bethany Smith as my mate and banish her from this pack. I proclaim her to have one hour before she becomes a rogue."
I froze. Why would he do this? Did he ever love me? I found myself asking the second question aloud.
"Yes, and I still do. But what is the point of having a mate who can't accept you for who you are?"
"I do accept you! I just wish you had told me you were an alpha and that I didn't have the find out through your mother."
"Pack up and get off my land."
When he said that, I ran home, grabbing a bag from my parents' room. My mum was following me around the house, trying to find out why I was crying and packing things up. So I told her.
With only half an hour to spare, and knowing it would take almost as long to get to the border, I bid my mum a sorrow filled goodbye and left. My father wasn't home yet.
I glanced back once at the border. Scott was there, watching me. I guess he was making sure I left.
"Goodbye Scott," I said, letting the wind carry my words across to him. "I have loved you since the day I met you, but I guess it wasn't enough."
With that, I walked over the border and became a rogue.
