Chapter 11

Manhattan, New York

"Fuck David. Slow down." I groaned and wiped the sweat from my forehead.

"You just gotta keep up Pooh" Dave chuckled and began to jog backwards.

Today me and Dave were working out and have been jogging at the park for a good 30 minutes now. I slowed down until I came to a complete stop. With my arms above my head I began inhaling and exhaling to catch my breath.

"You good baby? You want the rest of my water?" I shook my head answering his second question.

"No you need your water. I'm okay"

"Nah I'm good Ray. Just drink it. I'll just go get another one when we pass another vendor" Dave twisted the top off and held the bottle of water to my lips. It was a little less than half so I drank it in no time. "We could stop running for today. You did good."

We were still standing in the same spot and my heart rate was almost back to normal. Dave leaned towards me and pecked my lips then wrapped his strong arm around my shoulder. I laid my head on the side of his arm and we began walking to the main entrance of the park.

As we were walking I began to take in my surroundings. It was a beautiful day today. It was still summer in New York and the sun was out hiding in the clouds. There were kids with their families, yet it wasn't too packed. The traffic from the busy street, the birds chirping, ducks quacking, and the laughter of kids were all mashed together in a odd harmony. It was days like these that made me just appreciate life.

I was so in my head that I didn't even notice that Dave stopped at a vender and was now asking me something. I looked at him confused and hummed a "hmm?"

"I said do you want anything from this stand?"

"Yes. I'll take a water." The man nodded and handed Dave two waters. He paid and we thanked the man. We continued walking towards the car

"So what's the plans for the rest of the day?" 

"No idea. But I definitely need a nap and that's for sure." He nodded his head in agreement.

Shortly after, we arrived to his car where he pressed the keypad to unlock it. He opened my door for me and once I got in he closed it then walked around to the driver's side. He got in the car and started it up.

"We going right to your crib Pooh. It's right there" I didn't object and buckled up my seat belt

I picked up my water and drank some while Dave drove us back to my apartment. I hadn't checked my phone in nearly an hour so I pulled it out to see if I missed anything important. I had a text from my brother.

Baby bro: mama said dinner at her house. Bring ya lil nigga

I rolled my eyes and didn't respond. I don't know if I was ready for my family to meet Dave. We not even dating yet. I could definitely see a future with us but it's just some things you never know.

We pull up to my complex and I get out the car along with Dave. We walk in and take the elevator to my floor then I use my key to unlock it. As soon as we get in I go straight towards my room and pull out some clothes for me to take a shower. I threw Dave his white tee, boxers, and shorts that I stole from him one time.

"Yoooo. That's where my shorts been all this time. I been looking for these hoes for the longest. Meanwhile yo ass had em all this time" I laughed and pecked the lil frown that was on his face. "So what we finna get in together?" He asked squiggling his eyes brows. I started laughing

"Absolutely not. I'll be quick" he smacked his teeth and I laughed again. He was so slick, if i wasn't so smart he would have definitely been in my pants by now.
