I wake up with the sweet scent of pancakes filling up my nose. I get up out of bed and walk into the kitchen. "Good morning mom," I say before sitting down in front of my plate of pancakes. "You gonna be alright sweetheart?" My mom asks concerned. "I mean I was really excited about starting the new school year with him." I replied. "I know." My mom said. "Plus we would've had our parking spots by each other and paint them together." I say and then walk out of the kitchen because I finished eating. I put on my Shawn Mendes shirt that I got from his concert and a pair of black ripped jeans. I slipped on my boyfriend's hoodie. I grab my backpack. I put on my white vans and yell out, "BYE MOM!!" "BYE SWEETHEART!!" she yells out in return. I smile then walk out the door. I grab my keys and drive to school.
At School
I chose a parking spot beside my bestfriend. Then a boy pulls up beside me. It wasn't my boyfriend though. Of course. But it was someone I've always walked past but never introduced myself to.
"Hey. I'm Emmaline." I said trying to be polite. "I'm Lucas." Lucas said introducing himself. "Why did you finally decide to introduce yourself to me?" Lucas quickly asked. "Because it's a new start. I wanted to introduce myself to someone I've seen forever but never talked to. It'd be nice to get some new friends." I say. "Ok. Fine. I guess we can be friends." Lucas said. "So what's your first period?" I ask. "Math. I know nobody that has first period as math." He says. "Well I guess your in luck because I do too." I say. "Wow I'm so lucky." He says sarcastically. "Shut up." I say.
After first period we had a pretty good bond. Then we realized we have the same schedule. We spent the entire day together even lunch. "Hey. Wanna hangout after school?" I ask. "Sure why not?" "Ok bring your swimsuit." I say. "Ok Em" he said. "I like that. No one has given me a nickname before." I say smiling genuinely. "I think it might be because nobody believes thats they'll know each other forever. Because when you give someone a nickname it's like committing to your friend." Lucas says. "Wow that's deep." I say. "Fine if I have a nickname yours will be L." I say. "Ok mine was better." L says. "Sure... whatever you gotta tell yourself." "Yea whatever" he says.
