[not as romantic as you think]

It was a Friday afternoon when I decided to walk the remaining distance to my dorm all the way from my school.

I am thinking about that 'advice', my classmate is insisting on me to try so I could get a man of my own.

It wasn't that I was in a haste to have a boyfriend, but seeing my friends have their own relationships made me furious enough that they can't make time anymore for meet-ups and catch-ups.

'Do not carry an umbrella. A man will surely come to save you from the pouring rain.'

That was the exact statement giddily given to me by my seatmate who boast about getting his boyfriend from the aforesaid tactic.

I found the idea absurd to follow but checking my bag as I walk, it seems that I will be unluckily pulling off the tactic for the time being.

I continued walking, ignoring the passing crowd as I feel drops of rain start to fall. I can't help but sigh as I realized that heavens weren't really in my favor. Why is that? I just mentioned not carrying my rain shield and now, it's already raining. Geez.

The rain gets heavy as I managed to stop by on a nearby mini-mart because it was no joke and I'll be soaked. Luckily the rain stopped and I opt to carry on when the halt was just a prank and it rained all the way more.

I was already at the middle of the pedestrian lane, stopping, frowning, cursing, and glaring.

As I was about to lash out, the heavy rain was no more pouring on me. I saw an umbrella gallantly shared to me by a certain someone. Slim, slender fingers were gripping it and the owner was fairly tall.

"Why are you getting yourself soaked? " he asked.

There is no way in hell he owns that sexy voice, I cursed in my head.

"I don't have my umbrella." I said simply to cover my awe. I faced him fully so that I can make out his facial feature. Only to be shocked.

Why not? It is the least I can feel.

I felt that way because the man I was talking to was no other than Kevin, the guy who is seated at my back during Literature class.

Well, I was initially shocked due to his lack of spectacles, instead, he wears an emerald green contacts. He was also dressed in a dress coat like he will be attending some meeting.

I was distracted from staring when he hands me an umbrella, vaguely similar to my umbrella. We both carry on walking.

"Here. Go ahead and don't catch a cold. Don't let your desperation to pull out your stunt gets you sick."

I was contemplating as to how my umbrella and his were similar but later on shook of the thought and accepted the umbrella.

He was still sharing his umbrella with me until I opened the one he gave me. I saw my initials neatly printed at the strap so I asked him.

"It's mine. "

"I didn't said it wasn't. " he replied.

He withdrew his umbrella and left me. He managed to walk at least five steps when he faced me.

He then said, "If you want to be loved, you must love yourself first. Carry an umbrella whenever you go because sometimes, you just have to be your own hero."

He vanished as quick as that and I reached home thinking about his words.
