Chapter 1 Date in Story:September 1, 2012. Parker's P.O.V.
This sucks. I hate it. My life is over.
I don't want to move, I don't want to make new friends and start all over. I've lived in DC sinceI was born. I've lived in the same house since I was six years old.
I bet you're confused, let me explain. My father is a buisness man, he travels a lot to all sorts of exotic and different towns. This time it'sone of those 'different' towns, this place is the farthest thing from exotic.
This time he has been moved to Missouri, working in a town called Springfield. The company he works for bought him a house about 35 minutes from his work in the nearby town of Marshfield. His company projects usually last 2-4 months. The longest he's ever been gone is six months and three weeks.
This project is expected to last 3-5 years, they have given him a permanent spot on their South Western office as a lawyer. He signed a contract that ensured how long he had to stay at that paticular branch.
Since this will take so long my mom decided all on her own without any consent from us kids, even though I'm technically not a kid. Anyway my mom decided that she would was to move herself, my 12 year old brother, nine year old brother, and three year old sister and me; out to the hillbilly, middle of nowhere town of Marshfield, Missouri. That's why this sucks.
I was broke out of my thoughts by my mom screeching on her brakes at a stoplight, nearly hitting the car in front of her. "What the hell? What a dumbass!!" My mom shouted at the car in front of her, even though they couldn't hear her, they could tell she was screaming.
"Mommy, why is that lady tellin' you thats you're number one?" Aubree piped up from the backseat. "Yes mom, why?" I said to my mom, trying to get it through her thick head that their were indeed 3 young kids in th backseat.
"Because I forgot about the kids in the backseat..." She mumbled hanging her head down in shame. I knew she wasn't really ashamed, she was just trying to show the younger kids that what she did was wrong.
"I'm not a kid! I'm nearly 13!" My brother Luca yelled from is seat. "Luca, be quiet or I will make sure you don't make it to 13." I threatnened only half joking. Lucaa seemed to realize this because he instantly shut up.
I then realized my other brother Mason was being unusually quiet, I turned around from my seat at the front of the car to see Mason in a deep trance with my iPhone also with my red skull-candy headphones in. I forgot I lent it to him earlier, to leave me alone.
"Mason, buddy. Snap out of it." I said pushing on his knee. His eyes shot up to mine and he took one headphone out to listen to me but kept his eyes fixed on the screen of my phone.
"Dude I need my phone back, I gotta get further directions to the new house." He glanced up quick, and paused his game of Angry Birds Space, so he could finish it later. He handed me the phone and the headphones. "Thanks buddy." I said smiling at him. Mason and I were definitely closer than Luca and I. We where more alike, I guess. I didn't need to get the directions for a while, so I started messing around with my cell. I opened up my youtube app, planning to put on some Nickelback. When I opened it up I saw something horrific!
Country music.
"Mason Lee Wilde! Do you want to explain to me, what-" I looked down at the screen to get the name of the song."What the song Hicktown by some dude named Jason is doing on my phone!"
I think I might have a panic attack.
Mason gave me a slight shrug, not looking up from his iPod nano. "Parker chill, just listen to it. It's really good. Dad said that's what everyone in Marshfield listens to." I snorted, they totally brain washed him!
