If I'd known what I do now, I never would've believed him.The warmth of the soft ball of fur curled around me graces my skin with joy, and the darkness of indrawn curtains lures me asleep. It is these early morning that I dread to ever awaken and begin the day.
"Princess," says a soft voice, "it is time to wake up."
I groan as the furry warmth rolls away and lands with a thump on the floor. "But Lupin," I protest tiredly, "it's too early to be up. The moon still dances in the sky at this hour."
"Actually," Lupin replies, "the sun is at high noon. It is only dark in her because of the curtains you draw so tightly closed every night."
Morning light floods into the room, sending stars into my closed eyes. When I open them, a tall, four-legged creature presses it's long muzzle into my side. "Up!" He commands, "up!"
"Ouch!" I yelp as my knees kit the floor, "alright, I'm up!"
"Good," nods the creature, "let us start the day, then."
Lupin is a Rickshaw Demon who is six-foot at his strong shoulder and seven when you count his bro at head. His fur is half-lack on his left and white on the other, with two gleaming red eyes like rubies in the sunlight. Spikes line from the top if his head to the tip of his long tail. His jowls are scarred atop razor teeth and a lolling tongue, and his horn-like ears are slightly torn.
"Good morning, princess!" Says a bustle of maids.
"Good morning to you, Your Majesty!" Chimes a butler.
"You look as lovey as ever, Your Highness!" Smirks a guardsmen at post in front of the stairwell.
We stride down the wide corridor that leads to the second staircase, of which we happily race down. At the bottom Kiloton already awaits us, her long black hair in it's usual ponytail.
"So," she says, amusement dancing in her amber eyes, "who won today?"
I jab my thumb into Lupin and grumble, "this jerk."
"Jerk?" He laughs, "why am I the jerk here?"
"Because you have two times as many legs as I do! You're at an unfair advantage!"
"Would you like to battle our dear master in my stead?" He smirks.
I huff, "n-no."
"Then allow me to claim my victory and gain another," he says, "Your Majesty."
I scoff, "whatever, show-off."
we follow Kiloton to the training room. It's metal, underground, and impeccably huge. The walls stand high and wide around us, giving plenty of room for our morning duels.
"Arise!" Kiloton cries curtly. A platform rack of weapons spirals slowly out of the ground, as if awoken from a long nap. Two of everything under the sun rests on its holder; swords, knives, maces, guns, bows, staffs, and even two pairs of bronze gauntlets. It takes her twenty-three strides to reach her spear, and only five for Lupin to clamp a longsword between his teeth.
The platform defends back into the floor, and the countdown begins in a metallic voice.
Ten, Kiloton shifts into a battle stance.
Nine, eight seven, Lupin stamps his front paws.
Six, five, the air is tense.
Four, I hold my breath.
Three, two one, begin.
At this, the two launch into battle. Kiloton dart away as Lupin bounds at her, slashing his blade at her chest. He misses, and places a paw down, changing directions so quickly that Kiloton has no time to react.
