chapter 4-cole walker

I go with Rod and Remi to Cole's party. I dont know for what reason but im anxious to see Ruth.

i wear a shiny sequined crop top with light faded denim jeans. My red velvet hair loose and my makeup a natural look.

Remi wears a mini tea pink and purple dress with straps and grey knee high boots. Her snowy blonde hair french braided.

Rod just shows up in sweats.

the dark dain wooden shack has yellow fairylights around it and it looks better then before. not dusty and broken. The trees around also have fairylights. A few people sit on the grass and some stand and talk but i was sure the party was going to be wild when more people arrived.

"woah ever seen Dark Dain shack not look creepy?" Remi said to Rod and me.
"i still think it looks creepy" i reply and Rod nods in agreement.
"everything is creepy to you guys" Remi said.

"do you think Ruthers would show up?" Rod asks me. To answer his question I point to Ruth who is coming towards us from a distance.
"remember dont overwhelm her with questions" Remi whispers to both of us.

"hey" Ruth says expressionless, in a serious tone.
"hey" we three reply in a chorus.
"so the shack looks good right?" Rod asks, trying to make a conversation.
"yes" Ruth replies grimly.
"Ruth are you ok?how are you feeling-
"IM OK! stop worrying about me!" Ruth interrupts me with a booming voice. after two seconds i stomp away furiously from her, she keeps yelling at me and now its getting embarrising. Anger consumes me. Rod follows me, trying to keep pace.
"Lex Stop!" he says for the hundreth time.
"what the hell do you want Rod?" i hiss
"dont mess up your mood Lex, you know Ruth's not being herself" he says, calming me.
I take a deep breath and think Rod is right.
the Ruth I know is funny, cheerful, sarcastic well mean sometimes but not like this. She is never this...cranky.
but it still annoys me that why is she acting like this, I want her to change back.

my mood swaps very quick. First i was feeling anxious to talk to Ruth, i wanted to make her feel better but now I dont give a damn, When she decides to change back she can come to me. I feel selfish but I want to enjoy the party.

I was about to reply to Rod but i see him walking away, It confuses me for a second but then I see Cole walking towards me and realise why Rod went away.
my heartbeat starts to to quicken and flutters like the wings of a hummingbird.
Cole Walker is my crush, he has Coal black messy hair (like his name) and dreamy blue eyes. I could drown in them...Ive never really talked to him much except exchange a few Hi's and Hello's in school. I denied i liked him for a long time because I thought he's going to be a jerk, and im still not sure but...
"hey there, Lexa" he says
"hi Cole, nice party" I reply with a smile.
"thanks, you look beautiful"
"oh! oh thanks" i say dumbly
i wanted to make a conversation with him so he wouldnt leave.
"so why did you decide to throw a party here out of all places?" i ask him.
"oh wow no one has asked me that yet" Cole said as he brushed his hair away from his eyes.

he sat down on the grass and waited for me to sit down with him. I was about to blow up with excitement. From my peripheral vision I could see someone watching us but I didnt take my eyes of Cole.

"so i was thinking about throwing a party and I saw a few dreams of Dark Dain and thought why not throw a party here." he said softly.
I was shocked. Again with the dreams... it was getting creepy now,Why couldnt i have a normal conversation with anyone. When I didnt reply Cole talked more.
"besides I was getting tired of parties at the Rockwood club" he added.
I laughed a little.
"so tell me more about the dreams" I asked him.
Even though I wanted us to talk about something else, something romantic i guess... the curiousity was burning me.
"I dont know they are just dreams of me sitting on the grass outside Dark Dain" he said, almost a whisper.
"oh" was all i could say.

I told him about my dreams too and his blue eyes were focused on me while I talked.
when I was done he just let out a small laugh.
"weird" he said. I changed the topic and we talked about school and other stuff.
"so whats your favourite thing to do when you're free" I asked
"I like to help animals, I voulenteer at the Animal Shelter every week" He replied.
I thought that was really cute.
"wow i didnt know" I said.
"I havent told anyone" he said with a smirk.
I smiled.
"hey... smile again" he said which confused me but I smiled.
"I didnt realise you had a dimple" Cole said while smiling.
"oh... oh yeah its there" I said
"Its cute" he said which made me blush a little, I hope he could not see my blush.
Cole and I talked more, He did most of the talking and I listened while staring at his dreamy eyes.
"Hey so I had to ask something" Cole said to me.
"LEXA" I heard Rod calling me which annoyed me.
I was trying to have a time with Cole.
"I guess you gotta go" he said.
"no i'll just ignore him, so what did u wanted to say?"
"LEXA LEXA COME HERE!" Rod half-screamed like a little girl would if you snatched her Lollipop.
I groaned at stood up from the grass.
"Excuse me Cole" i said while brushing grass away from my lap.
I turned to walk away.
"wait" Cole said as he leaned closer and took out some grass from my hair.
"you have grass on your hair" he said, chuckling a little.
I blushed, embarrased and then rushed to Rod.

"what the fuck is your problem Rod?!"
"Lexa Ruth isnt here! I dont know where she went"he replied, worried.
I groaned and rolled my eyes, again with Ruth.
"Rod she probably went home, shes not five stop worrying so much" I replied annoyed.
and then Remi approached
"Rod! she probably went inside the shack, she was talking about it" Remi said, also worried.
"Oh yeah lets go!"
before I could reply they ran to the shack.

so what if Ruth went there? why were Rod and Remi so worried...Cole came and stood next to me.
"everything okay?" he said
I told him everything.
"wait I only occupied half of the shack of the party, no one is supposed to go on the other side" Cole said
"why not?" I asked
"I dont know, the old man who takes care of the shack told me I cant go to the other side, but I told everyone except Ruth"
"why didnt you tell her Cole"
"well she creeps me out a little...after what happened at history class" He replied and I rolled my eyes a little.
"well we better go after them"

As Cole and I walked towards the shack I felt this nagging feeling that someone was watching us from the trees...
