I was just getting home from work during this terrible thunderstorm.

It was raining cats and dogs and the lightning lite up the sky.
I unlocked the front door and went inside to find my older sister.

Gwen I called walking into the house.

I'm in the living room she yelled. I walked into the living room to find her, on a ladder doing something to the chandelier.

What are you doing I asked her.
Trying to get this stupid chandelier to work. Ive tried everything but it just won't come on.

Well I'll call the electrician tomorrow I told her.
How was your day she asked coming down the ladder.

It was pretty good I told her, until this storm came out of no where I told her.

We walked into the kitchen and Gwen made us some tea.

I still had to tell her that our brother Malek was coming back to live with us today, but I didn't know how.

They are not on talking terms right now since he left about 6 months ago.

So when the last time you spoke to our brother. She didn't answer just rolled her eyes.

I have nothing to say to him she finally said after a moment of silence.

I was about to say something when the door bell rung.

I went to the door and opened it. It was my older brother Malek.

I give him a hug and that when Gwen came. Who is it she asked walking in the room. She didn't say anything just looked at him.

Hey Gwen I said it Malek our brother. I gave her a smile but she didn't return one. Hey Malek said.

Gwen didn't say anything. Isn't it good to see him again I asked Gwen.
I'm speechless she said walking upstairs. You know I didn't still that money he told her, I know that's what your low down, ass kissing boyfriend told you, but I didn't.

Gwen stoped and looked at him. Look said Malek can we just talk. No Gwen said. Oh so you rather walk around with tension between us. Gwen just rolled her eyes.

Is that all your things Gwen asked Malek. Yeah he said it's all I own and my bike.

Suddenly the cap outside beeps the horn. Oh said Malek I gotta pay the cab driver can you lean me a few bucks he asked me.

Sure I said grabbing Gwen wallet from the table. Hey that's mine Gwen said I waved her off and went outside to pay the cab driver.

I went back inside, so what do you say if I made us a nice dinner. Im not hungry said Gwen going up stairs. I looked at Malek, I ate on the bus he said walking away.

I went in the kitchen and made malek something to eat anyway. I knew he was lying about not being hungry.

Soon I took him his food upstairs. I brought you food I told him walking in. Oh thank god I'm starving he said taking the plate and sitting on the bed.

Why didn't you tell her I was coming home Malek asked me. Well because it wasn't my job to I told him.

I know he said I just hope she lets that money thing go.
I know I told him, but you know how big sis can be.
She basically rise us after mom died. she had to grow up fast I told him.

Well I don't need a mom anymore, I need my sister he told me.

Soon Gwen came in with some pillows and blankets.

Here she said this room was always the coldest.

Thanks Malek told her, she tried giving him a smile and walked out the room.

Later that night I heard a noise from the hallway while I was in bed.

I got up and went to see what it was. When I opened the door it was Malek. What are you doing I asked him. Going up to the attic I keep hearing weird noises.

I followed him up stairs to the attic. It's probably the storm making all the noises. The attic door is locked we been trying to get in there for months I told him.

Malek tried opening it anyway. See I told him now let's go to bed I told him. Right when we were about to walk away the attic door slowly creeks open.

That's not creepy I told malek as we walked inside.

We haven't been up here in years I told him, yeah he said it's a lot of old stuff in here.

What's this he asked looking at this big book setting on the table.

Malek set at the table and blew dust of the book and opened it.

The book of shadows he said. What is it I asked going to stand beside him. It's some kind of book he said. It has weird writing in it. Malek started reading the first page.

Hear now the words of the witches.
The secrets we hid in the night.
The oldest of Gods are invoked here.
The great work of magic is sought.
In this night and in this hour.
We call upon the Ancient Power.
Bring your powers to we siblings three!
We want the power.
Give us the power.

The lightning flashed  hard for a moment.
What are you doing Gwen voice said scaring the shit outta us.

Just reading this book we find Malek said.

Gwen came over and looked at the book.
Is this a book of witch craft she asked.
I don't know he said.
It is she said reading the last line of the page.

Don't read this stuff she said who knows what might happen.
Nothing happened Malek said Gwen rolled her eyes and walked out. 

I went to bed soon leaving Malek in the attic reading that creepy book alone.

The next morning I got up and made me some coffee I had to be at work at 8:30. Gwen went to work 6 this morning. I found an old sprit broad our mom give us when we were little. On the back was a weird saying my mother wrote on it. To my 3 beautiful children let this led you to the light.
The power of 3 will set us free. I never figured out what she meant by that.

I got ready for work after while and on my way out I saw Malek setting on the porch swing. Good morning I said to him. Hey he said with a smile. Did you get any sleep I asked.
No he said. Were you out here reading that dang book all night I asked. Yeah he told me I couldn't help myself.

He started telling me about the things he read.

This book said that we come from a long line of witches. That our great great great great great great grandmother was the first . Her name was Mary Wardrick she had three special powers she could freeze time, more things with her mind and see into the future he told me.
I laughed at what he said yeah and we have a aunt who's a ghost, a cousin who's a cow and a dad who's invisible.
That's nonsense I told him.

I'm serious he said. Before Mary was burned at the stack.She swore that the wardrick line would grow powerful and powerful until the up come of 3 powerful siblings and Chris he said I think that's us.

Malek we are not witches and we're boys so wouldn't we be wizards, ma wasn't a witch and as far as me knowing neither was mom so I'm going to work I said giving him a hug.

He got up and followed me to my car. We are witches he said, were known as the charmed ones. I rolled my window up and went to work.
