The next day I wake up and choose an outfit for the first day of my sophomore year. I have to wear my warm up shirt with either jeans or shorts so I go with shorts and of course I put my black boots on and head downstairs. Andrew is surprisingly already up and eating cereal and I head over to get cereal and milk.
"I don't want you going to that party on Friday." He says making me jump from the sudden noise after it being so quiet. I look over at him and lean against the counter.
"I'm fully able to take care of myself and it's my choice if I wanna go to the party. Jacob will be there so I'll have my own personal body guard if that makes you feel any better." I turn around and eat my breakfast as I stare into space.
"I don't care, Parker. Jacob could turn on you at any second. I know how guys think and just because he's all nice and protective now, that doesn't mean he'll be like that when he's in the mood." He finishes his cereal and washes his bowl.
I wash my bowl and grab my keys since I was already dressed and he hadn't gotten ready yet, and leave without him. I'm done hearing his shit because I know Jacob and he would never do that to me.
"Hey! You get back here!" He yells, running after the truck. I turn a corner and look in the rear view mirror and laugh to myself.
When I get to school I see my other good friend Stacey and meet up with her to compare our schedules.
"Yes! We have Honors Biology together!" Stacey exclaimed. I smiled and just shook my head already thinking of how we'll goof around together.
We walked into the school and went to find our lockers. My locker was upstairs while hers was down stairs so we split at the grand staircase. As I was walking up the stairs I looked back at her and yelled "Meet me back here before class starts!" I saw her nod and I suddenly hit a hard surface and stepped back as I miss a stair and fall down the rest of the flight of stairs.
"Son of a bitch!" I say to myself reaching for my arm that has been bent in every which way. I groan as I hear someone run down the stairs and some students crowd around me and I look up at the person towering above me.
"Oh my god!! I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there!" A guy who's literally a walking skyscraper with dark brown hair and green eyes reaches down to help me up. As my eyes start to focus and I can see clearly, I realize who he is. Dylan Jackson, the guy who everyone in the school knows because of how tall he is and because he's going to a really good college for his skills in football. I look at his hand then back up at him and I slowly take his hand as girls that were in the crowd around us gasp and whisper to each other.
I stand up and and I feel the pain in my arm again and realize my arm is still broken and take my lanyard of my neck with my keys and walk away to go to the hospital.
I hear footsteps running after me and the same guy came up beside me and while I'm 5'3, he stands at 6'6. "Hey, look I'm sorry but can you at least let me drive you to the hospital?" I look up at him and nearly strain my neck and glare at him.
"No. I've got my own truck but thanks." I say while looking ahead of me and holding my broken arm. I really shouldn't be talking to him this way and I feel bad but come on, how would he feel if his perfect arm got broke on the first day of school? I'm pretty good at taking pain cause I've had plenty of broken bones and much worse than just broken bones.
I finally reach my truck and the guy is still nagging about taking me himself. I'm starting to get annoyed so I tell him he can come with me and he instantly jumps in the passenger side.
After we get done at the hospital and my arm is in a cast, we head back to the school and I'm thankful that I don't have to deal with him anymore. I know I have a cast on but that doesn't stop me from driving MY truck. I refuse to let anyone drive my baby.
"I'm Dylan by the way." He looks over at me while I'm driving and sends me a smile. I look over at him and send him a smile back and look back at the road.
"Parker." I say as I see him look confused. "Yeah, yeah. It's usually a guys name but my mom thought it'd be cool to be different for once."
"Yeah I don't know where my mom got my sisters name from. Who names their kid Primrose?" He laughs a deep laugh that sends vibrations through my truck and I can't help but feel something from it and a smile grows on my face. I look over at him and find that he's already looking at me with a smile on his face.
"What?" I say trying the hold back the blush that is threatening to appear. He smiles wider and chuckles.
"It's just that I've seen a lot of the girls at our school and they somehow aren't nearly as beautiful as you are." He says looking down at his lap and fiddles with his fingers. "Plus, I never seen a girl who would voluntarily drive a truck like this." I chuckle but I can't help but blush even more and smile.
"Big bad Dylan is blushing?" I say with a smirk and look over at him once more. His head shoots up at me and his expression turns cold. He then looks out the window and stays quiet the rest of the way there. I tried to apologize for whatever I said but he didn't talk to me the rest of the way.
I shouldn't care cause it's not like I could possibly be friends with the most popular guy in school. I don't even know why he decided to come with me. I couldn't help but feel guilty but like I said...
It's not like we're going to even talk again after this.
