Today

Today, starts a chapter of your life entirely new.
For most of the time, and maybe now, you have been feeling blue.
No more shall life be sad and dull,
For your heart should be entirely full.
Your storms have been incredibly strong,
And to you, they seem so very long.
And although you may not see it always,
My heart loves you as in it you embrace.
There are times of screams and tears,
But we will both be there to drown out the fears.
In my life, you make it full.
In my life, you keep me cool.
In my life, you love me like no other.
In my life, I'm glad I was blessed with you as a mother.
Today starts a chapter of your life entirely new.
Live your life as honest and true.
For, on this planet, we are only here for a short amount of time,
So, do yourself a favor and grab that much desired cup of wine.
"I'm too old to start enjoying my life." You say grinning,
But your happiness, my friend, is just beginning.
God has big plans for you, I promise.
Trust in Him and you will be astonished.
Happy birthday to you, who deserves the most happiness.
What the future has in store, well, we are all curious.
Just know I will be there, and not just as your daughter,
But as your friend, as well, for your love makes my future seem brighter.

This poem means so so much to me. I wrote this for my mom on her birthday to show the love and strong bond between us and other mothers and daughters.
