He lures the child to follow him into the woods whispering "come here little girl it's safe to follow me, nothing will happen". Something about his voice made the little girl loosen up. The man had slick peppered hair and lanky stature compared to the short and thin 11-year old girl behind him. Her mum had always said she was growing taller by the day but the man was towering over her. She followed the strange man into the alluring green of the woods, wondering where the man was taking her. While they were walking the girl looked the clothes the man wore and saw an elegant black and white suit, it looked out of place considering they were in the woods.
On the way to wherever, the girl saw a bird sitting on a branch very low to the ground, the man walked past the bird and the bird started to follow the man but slipped and fell. The bird hit the ground with a loud thunk. The man abruptly stopped after the noise. The little girl wondered what he was doing till the man went up to the bird, thinking he was going to help it she walked closer to where the bird was but then saw the man hold the bird by the neck. Gasping in horror as the girl watched the man squeeze the bird's throat. The birds head went rushing towards the girl. Blood from the head spewed over the man's lower sleeves. The girl stood there, horrified, wondering how the man could do such a thing.
"It's ok, It was just a fake" said the man in a relaxing and deep voice. The man walked toward the little girl, who was too scared to move, and got the head and pushed it toward her. Before he could even turn the head around the little girl came back to reality and started to run as fast as her small legs could go. Her long, black hair was bouncing on her back as she ran. As she was running, she looked behind her to see if the man was following her but couldn't see him anywhere. The girl started to slow down to catch her breath when she saw a small furry thing on the ground.
Thinking it was a hurt animal, she started to pick it up. The girl noticed it was a very small bird. She looked up trying to find a safe place without even looking closely at the bird. When she couldn't find someplace that looked safe enough to put the bird she started to worry "maybe it fell out of the nest" the little girl thought looking down at the bird. It wasn't moving. "OW!" the girl jumped, dropping the bird, something had bit her. The bird hit the ground hard and turned over. The girl saw the head of a bird.
The little girl started to run again and stopped only for a little bit to catch her breath. The girl stopped to rest for now the third time and without realizing it started to clutch her necklace. The necklace had a beautiful bright blue moon pendant that her dad gave to her as a gift before he got taken away by that car. After a few minutes of rest, the little girl was about to keep going until she saw a cabin right next to were the lake was, then she realized that this cabin was really close to where the cabin she was staying in with her mum and friend was. The girl noticed it was getting dark, she did not have her watch with her but it looked to be about 6:00 which meant she would have to go back to the cabin pretty soon or her mum would be worried. The girl saw a flat log to sit on. "Are you lost?" someone said in a familiar deep voice.
The little girl looked up and saw the man looking at her...but not a worried look it was a look that she had never seen before. The girl looked at him in horror "Why did you kill that innocent bird." The girl said, her eyes started to tear up. "Come inside and rest...you look tired" the man said ignoring her question. "Why would I do that?" the girl questioned, noticing that the cabin must have been his. "I told you the bird was a fake, it had a camera inside of it." The man said getting out the bird head and showing her. Without realizing it the girl promptly looked down at the bird head and saw that it had wires coming out of it. "What about the blo..." The girl looked at his sleeves and saw nothing. The man grinned."Just come inside...you look tired from all that running."
The girl followed the man inside the cabin anxiously. The inside had a clean smell to it but looked like it had not been cleaned in months. There was a two person couch in front of, what seemed like it was supposed to be, a kitchen. The couch had an olive green color with brown stains in random spots and a one big one in the middle of it like someone spilled something on it. There was a small 90s T.V. in front of the stained couch. The walls were a light cream color while the floors were a light brown carpet. "You can sit down you know" the man said gesturing towards the couch. "Oh...I'm fine...thanks" The girl said glancing at the big stain on the couch. "Do you want something to drink?" the man said chuckling. "That would be great" said the little girl nervously. The man went into the kitchen and grabbed some lemonade from his small fridge and started to pour it into a cup. The girl got a little sick to the stomach when he did that.
"Can I go to the restroom please?" the girl asked. "Why of course...it is just down the hall" the man said. "Thank you" the girl said smiling. She stared down the dark hallway that had at least 5 doors. "Is something wrong?" the man said staring at her attentively. "Oh...no everything's fine." The girl said awkwardly. "Which door is the bathroom in?" the girl asked looking down the hallway at the furthest door. "It's at the end of the hallway." The man said evenly. The girl's stomach lurched, she did not want to walk down that long and dark hallway.
"Do you want me to go with you" the man said smiling. "Uh.....no I'm fine..." the girl said wondering if it was a joke or not. The girl walked down the hallway towards the blackness that lead to the bathroom.
