“Well, Now that I see your conscious Let’s discuss the fact that you haven’t paid up Juan”  The man shivered his head was spinning he wasn’t sure where he was but he knew one thing:  this wasn’t going to end well.  “Not talking are you?” The man smacked his face and it stung.  His vision turned blurry and he felt wet tears slide down his cheeks.   “I… I’m sorry I don’t have your money” The man laughed at him a cruel one.  “Well that’s too bad isn’t it?  You borrowed one grand and you think that will go unnoticed by me?”  Juan didn’t know why he kept asking him questions he couldn’t answer.  “What should we do with him Santia. .  I mean boss” Another man asked.  Juan didn’t know what they were going to do to him but he prayed to all the gods in the universe that he would walk away with life.  “Don’t worry Alejandro it’s okay to same my name” the man smiled but his smile looked as the devil himself “I am Santiago the boss of the Reyes organization of drugs”  Juan’s eyes widened and was struck with fear.  He was a dead man.  Slowly Santiago brought his gun out into view and placed it on Juan’s head.

“Daddy you’re home!”  Santiago smiled at his son with love he was his pride.  “Yes son I’m home were is you’re mother?”  The boy giggled.  “She has a surprise for you” Santiago smiled. “Why don’t you tell me?”  His son shook his head,  “No daddy then it won’t be a surprise”  Santiago laughed genuinely “Ricardo you know I don’t like surprises” “Santiago! Stop trying to find out you’re surprise”  They both turned around to see the woman standing in the hallway.  “Sophia you need to stop surprising me” Sophia laughed.  Ricardo squirmed in his daddy’s arms.  “We got you a present”  Santiago raised his eyebrows.  “Really?”  “Yes daddy but you need to close your eyes”.  Santiago closed his eyes.  He heard feet shuffle and whispers.  “Okay daddy, open your eyes!”  When Santiago opened his eyes he saw his mother standing in front of him.  He hadn’t seen her in a long time because he was busy with work and she was in a hospital.  Tears came to his eyes as he felt guilty for not visiting her.  “Mother. . .”  He wasn’t sure what to say to her.  “Oh my son don’t worry come here” Santiago walked towards his mother and hugged her.  Memories of his childhood flooded back into his mind about his childhood.

“Thank you Sophia” Sophia smiled.  “I’m your wife I know what you have been feeling”  Santiago grinned “Do you know what I feel now”  Sophia blushed “No we have to go Ricardo is going to be impatient”  Santiago smiled weakly “You know when he grows older he will have to be patient and be able to take over the family business. “  Sophia frowned “I thought you said Ricardo wouldn’t have to do the business just as long as you put one of your right hand men.”  Santiago became very serious “Sophia, my men are not trustworthy.”  Sophia left it at that she didn’t want to argue in the presence of her mother in law.  As they entered the living room Ricardo gave them his biggest smile.  Santiago’s breath was taken away his son looked exactly like his mother.  He had the same dark brown eyes the dark curls that covered his head and the tan skin that had never seen sun.  He was a male version of Sophia.  Santiago loved this because he was no good and his Sophia was, he’d rather have his son be like Sophia gentle and nice.

Santiago looked at his son who was excited to watch the game in one of the biggest stadiums in Rosario Argentina.  Santiago’ mother had decided to accompany them.  If there was one thing that Santiago shared with his parents it was Soccer.  He absolutely loved it.  Now he was proud to say that today he shared that love with his pride and joy, Ricardo.

Fifteen years later.

Ricardo stood tall in front of his father’s desk.  He was nervous he had no idea what his father was about to tell him.  His twentieth birthday had finally arrived and he was excited today he would be introduced to the family business.  “Son sit down”  His father ordered him as he sat down in front of his desk.  “Son you must swear to me that when I retire that you will take care of this business.”  Ricardo nodded eagerly.  “Yes father I promise I will take care of the family business.”  Santiago smiled at his son’s eagerness.   “Son our business started with your great grandfather,  He was a poor man who wanted to save his son from an illness however he did not have money.  He sat down by a tree and stayed there, he wanted to be as far away from his son when he died.  He felt hopeless but at that moment a witch lady came by and sensed his hopelessness.  The witch lady gave him to leaves and told him to smoke them, those herbs were going to make him feel better.  Your great grandfather did it and realized they did make him feel better instantly.  He went back to his home and saw his son was slightly better.  A week passed since your great grandfather had seen the witch lady.  He wanted more of the delicious herbs that made him feel better. He set out to find her and when he did he found the most unexpected thing.  She was growing the herbs herself and selling them.  She made plenty of money, that’s when the business came alive.”

Ricardo was confused but kept listening to the tale of his father “He stole some seeds from the lady and then started to plant his own herbs and he sold them to his friends at first and slowly he sold it to more people who wanted to relieve themselves from their problems.  Your great grandfather made money and helped keep his son healthy.  Roberto was his name.  His son was David he made the business bigger and expanded his wealth.  Although your great grandfather was great David your grandfather was better.  He was able to become rich and then take power in the government, and trade with others who were also involved with the drug trade.  Not only did he expand it but he got many workers.  As you know I took over and I was able to gain power not only in Rosario but the country as well.”  Ricardo was shocked he did not know what to do.  His father was a drug dealer and all the people from Rosario thought he was a man of good when he really wasn’t.  Ricardo felt light headed but gripped his seat.  What had he gotten himself into?

“Ricardo?”  Ricardo hadn’t heard his father talking.  “Sorry father what did you just say?”  His father grinned “This business was passed from my grandfather to his son from my dad to me and now to you.  Your fourth generation,  your children will also take your place, it is their destiny.”
