A Hero's Journey (Completed!)

Chapter 8|Becoming Extraordinary (the fight)|Stone Cold vs Oscar

"Before you get all serious, what's going to be your name?,your superhero name I mean" Stone asked me.

I put my hand on my chin as if thinking,"The Mercenary..." I raised my gaze to meet his eyes,"And I'm going to need two machine guns"

He chuckled," Follow me, you are going to need a lot more than that to beat me, I already have the upper hand ,so it's only fair I give you some equipment that will make it all the sweeter when I pummel you to a pulp" .

I don't know what face I put up when he said that last bit,but boy it must have been quite a sight.
We walked a couple flights of stairs until we stopped at what seemed like a vault.

" Take what you need" Stone said as he typed the password, the vault's doors hinged open.

"Oh wow" was all I could muster to say. As I took the first step inside the lights inside automatically went off,  I marveled at the countless superhero costumes, weapons, gears and equipment of all sorts. While walking I noticed a particular black costume ,

" You like it? " Stone asked.

"Well yes actually"
then he quickly replied

" Then go marry it!" .

" ha ha how funny"

" For real you gotta hurry up I was not authorized to take you here, so put it on and let's get it over with"

I took the costume and some mini guns, Sarah led me to the arena, there were a couple of supers fighting there but as soon as stone got there they fled.

"What have you gotten yourself in now Mister Oscar... Tisk tisk tisk." Sarah said while moving her head from one side to another. I looked at her being so cute that I couldn't resist and I gave her a quick unexpected peck in the cheek.

"Were did that come from Oscar? " she said as she stroked her cheek.

I-I just dont know if I will come out of this alive you know... You are more important to me than you can imagine" I said earnestly ,I saw a blush creep unto her face. She sure knows how to make my heart skip a beat.

Okay getting back to business.Stone mocked me doing the loser fortnight dance.

"You are an immature little snowflake you know that?"

And you are a powerless needy human that would still be on the streets if it weren't for Sarah"

The way he so suddenly changed reminded me of the jerk he was.

"I'm gonna have fun beating you up" I said.

Without warning he sent a cloud of frozen air . I could not see only but a few meters in front of me. Great I can't see now, neither can he, I'll use that to my advantage, Don't make a sound and cover yourself . I saw a large rock not far away, I scampered there. Holding the two guns in my hand I heard a noise behind me "woosh" ahh! A large shard of ice flew by me, missing me by only an inch. I stood up and fired at the ice menace. "Thund" he fell to the ground.

"You hit me! Now im done playing hide and seek!"

And immediately the ice cloud dissipated and I was left without cover.

"Die" he shouted and sent a large sharp chunk of ice towards me, it was going so fast that I could not evade it. It pierced my shoulder and pinned me to the cliff face. I was losing a lot of blood , Stone came walking with a grin in his face he touched the the ice-lance all the way from the tip to my shoulder .

"Sarah is going to hate you once you lose your precious arm" and with that he ripped the ice shard along with my arm.

" Ahhh! " I yelled in agony as I hit the ground, my severed arm limp in front of me. I-I was losing,and the only way I wasn't dead yet was because of my suit. Why wasn't I developing any powers??!? Before I had the chance to speak anymore,Stone grabbed my neck and lifted me from the ground he turned me towards Sarah. She was histerical she wanted to run towards us but two 'Superheros' were holding her back.

"Stop th-this..." I managed to mumble out, without breath.

"This is what happens when you mess with my people" he said letting go of my neck.

"Those goons we sent to your house,you massacred them, I'm here to revenge them, but first my master 'Fire' wants to know where the rest of your team is... X to be precise."

"I will NEVER tell you!" Then I spat at his face.

He cleaned it up, and kicked me in the wound, making it bleed more.

" If you dont tell me my henchmen will kill your beloved Sarah... slowly in front of you ,I will personally torture you for my delight"

That was IT I could not bear to suffer more, to let others suffer more, I needed to rise up for the challenges in front of me. I needed to. I felt a surge of power... I stood up, my bleeding stopped ,I felt much more, strong,fast , and more aware of my surroundings. Then coming from the inside of my back a sharp pain that threw me to my knees. When it was over I opend my eyes and looked at my back. A pair of giant black dragon wings had sprung up.

"Wha- what... No no it cant be possible!" Stone said wide-eyed .

The real fight was about to begin.
