Testing Quirks

Break was soon over, I returned to class only to find out we were going outside to test the strength and durability of our quirks. I had already met so many people in my class, I think me and Uraraka will be good friends. I was walking with Tsu and Uraraka when we finally got outside and there in front of us was this stage.

"You all will go 1v1 against your classmates, It will be to test your ability and your use of your brain in sticky situations. But if things go too far then I'll be forced to stop the match. Understood?" Mr. Aizawa said, standing in front of us. He was holding a small digital device in his hands that selected two students randomly to go head and head.

I could tell everyone was nervous, everyone but Bakugou. He seemed like the type whose ego was a bit.. no.. whose ego was really big along with his pride. But I don't doubt for a second how incredibly strong he is. I shuffled my feet slightly and played with my hands, anticipating who I'll go against.

"Watanabe Mari and Tokoyami Fumikage. Todoroki Shoto and Sero Hanta. Kaminari Denki and Uraraka Ochaco. Ashido Mina and Aoyama Yuga. Kirishima Eijirou and Midoriya Izuku. Bakugou Katsuki and Tenya Iida." Mr. Aizawa continued to read off the random lists that were created. As for me, I was in a slight panic. Who is Tokoyami Fumikage? Is he a strong opponent? God I hope not.

Suddenly someone came up to me, he was a crow? He waved a stiff 'Hello' and stood in front of me.

"I'm guessing you're Tokoyami? I'm Watanabe Mari." I said, reaching my hand out.

He shook it and nodded. "Yeah, I'll be your opponent. Everyone in Class 1A knows each others quirks except yours. I'm sure all eyes will be on us, but no pressure. Good luck." 

I thanked him and watched him walk away. I stared at both my hands and pursed my lips. It's been forever since I used my quirks. 

My quirk is the 4 elements, passed down from my mother. The 4 elements are earth, fire, water and air. She was one of the top ten heroes, next to All Might and Endeavor. The element quirk lets me use all 4 elements, but it's difficult to use two at the same time. My mother hadn't even mastered that yet. 

"I should feel blessed." I mumbled to myself, closing both my hands into fists.

WATANABE MARI V.S. TOKOYAMI FUMIKAGE.

It's time. Don't be nervous. You got this, Mari. Don't be afraid. You heard the whistle from Mr. Aizawa blow, signaling the fight had begun.

"Dark Shadow." Tokoyami said, unleashing a large shadow figure coming from inside him. It startled you, you've never seen a quirk like it. 

Don't panic, Don't show weakness. Do something, don't just stand there!

You began to twirl your hand into the air, gathering the wind around you and forming a tornado that wrapped around your arm. 

"Vanquish." You said, moving the small tornado toward Tokoyami's direction. You couldn't see your classmates reactions but I'm sure they were surprised. 

Tokoyami dodged your attack by his Dark Shadow flying him into the air, you both watched the tornado disappear into air. Who was going to attack next?

"Piercing Claw of the Dusk!" Dark Shadow's claw suddenly came forward, striking the ground you were on. You jumped into the air and manipulated the ground to help create a pillar for you to stand on. You covered the arena with water which you shot out your left hand. You created two waves using both hands that surrounded Tokoyami. The waves collided with each other, with Tokoyami inside with what seemed like the ocean of water. 

Did I get him? You gasped, tired from the dodging and using your quirk.

Then you see something black flash from behind you from the corner of your eye. But before you could do anything, Tokoyami's Dark Shadow knocked you off your quirk-made pillar. You fell into the foot of water you created earlier, which didn't really help your fall. 

"Agh-" You grunted in pain. But you couldn't give up yet. It was too early for that, You wanted to prove you were good and skilled just like how your mom was. 

You could see Tokoyami coming towards you while you were still laying on the ground. WIthout thinking, you shot fire from your hand which caused Tokoyami to become startled. You wonder why. He didn't end up dodging it though, and suddenly his Dark Shadow became noticeably weaker. 

The fire. The light! That's it, the more light the weaker his shadow becomes. Suddenly you blasted fire from the palm of your hand and his shadow got smaller and stopped attacking.

"Dark Shadow! Not now, please!" Tokoyami said, sighing. "We concede defeat." 

You stood there in shock, breathing heavily. 

"Watanabe Mari wins." Mr. Aizawa said. 

I won? I won! You collapsed to the ground out of pure exhaustion. You see Tokoyami walking towards you, he lends you a hand and helps you up.

"Your quirk, It's.. so powerful. One day I'll be sure to get stronger and we'll rematch. Great job, Watanabe." He smiled, walking you over to the benches where everyone else stood.

"That was amazing! I could never beat Tokoyami but you, you were the first girl ever. And your quirk, outstanding. I'm so jealous." Uraraka said, giving you a big hug. "You should go home and tell your parents how great you did."

You rubbed the back of your neck and laughed. "Ah, I live alone. But thank you so much, He was a really difficult opponent."

"Do you have any injuries? I can take you to go see Recovery Girl." Midoriya said, standing next to Uraraka.

I shook my head. "Pfft, nothing I can't handle. Just a few cuts and bruises but nothing serious. Besides, I'm interested in this next match."

Todoroki glanced over to you but you looked away, flustered.

He's cute, I wonder what he can do. 

TODOROKI SHOTO V.S. SERO HANTA.

Before I could even blink, Sero shot tape from both his elbows mid-air trapping Todoroki. The tape began to wrap around his body. I frowned in disappointment. I wanted Todoroki to win. Suddenly, the floor beneath them both turned to ice and enveloped Sero along with it. The tape wrapped around Todoroki broke as it was turned to ice, Sero stood frozen in place. 

"Sorry, I went a little overboard huh." Todoroki said, walking up to Sero.

Everyone was in shock.

"S-So fast.. He ended it within minutes.."

"As expected by Endeavor's son!"

"Todoroki Shoto wins!" Yelled Mr. Aizawa.

My mouth dropped to the ground. "Unbelievable. He's so strong." I felt my heart beat quicker as I watched him melt the ice with his right side. 

As Todoroki sat down on the bench next to me, I hesitated to start a conversation. 

"Todoroki! Y-You uh.. did.. I think.. You did.. AMAZING!" You blurted out, your cheeks flushed. You soon covered your mouth with your hands. "Sorry.. That was so loud."

"Thank you. You were amazing as well." He replied, then shifting his attention somewhere else.

How embarrassing. You face palmed once again.
