005 : THE KEY AND THE LETTER
•:༺✦༻:•
Dearest Jacques, I do hope this letter finds you better than it has found me.
Well I know you were never one for small talk, you got that from me you know, so I'll cut to the chase.
If you're reading this it means I am dead, as morbid as it sounds I've always wanted to say that!
Okay now to the point, you may have noticed some strange changes going on with you, strange things happening around you.
Well, I don't know how else to say this, remember those stories I told you about a magic school in Scotland? They're true.
Enclosed with this letter should be a golden key and the address and instructions to get to Gringotts, you remember the bank run by goblins?
The family safe manager should be there still and if you just show him the key he should let you right into the safe and then explain more things to you.
Some people may want to persecute you for your heritage but you mustn't lower your chin, remember to hold your head high!
I wish I could tell you more but I'm afraid my time with you is going to come to an end soon. All the love,
Your Nan

HANDS STILL SHAKING since he had picked the letter up, which had made it so he had to reread it a couple of times before his mind actually processed the information he was being given, even after he was sure he'd read it right he couldn't believe what he was reading. His eyes bugged out, like one of those pens his elementary school always had at the book fair that he could never afford and couldn't ever bring himself to steal.
It seemed that finally after all their tremors his hands failed him as the letter slipped out of his hands and landed with a light, unexpected, thud on the hardwood that immediately caused him to jump and reach for his waistband, an old habit he had from when he used to have a piece on him at all times before he had fully unlocked and gained control of, what had been previously dubbed his inner antichrist but was now known to be his magic.
The word felt weird, even in his head, he had never believed in magic and had always tried to prove his nan wrong about her belief in it, well, now he knew. Augustus could almost hear her saying I told you so and scolding him for not believing her word unwaveringly.
The sound of the envelope seemed to echo in his head as he fought to stay in his head and not disassociate anymore than he already had. It took his shaking butterfingers a couple of attempts before he could grasp the discarded envelope and dump out it's contents in his lap, eyes still wide, as they had been since he had entered his essentially abandoned apartment and first spotted the pile of letters that he had decided to blame for all his problems, the contents ended up only being a key with a tag tied onto the ring and a scrap of paper with familiarly hasty handwriting spelling out what seemed to be an address, in the United Kingdom.

With his head still in a whirlwind the ravenette decided to pursue the task that made the most sense at the moment and headed towards his bathroom crossing his fingers that his overdue water bill somehow hadn't affected the bathroom facilities, it had, but with a effortless thought passing through his mind, he was fully undressed and under an idealy pressured stream of water that seemed to always run at the perfect temperature.
AS THE DROPLETS collected on the top of his head and started soaking through onyx locks, beginning the descent down the slope of his nose, some droplets catching on the stubble, it was basically a peach fuzz, that he had neglected to take care of unnaturally due to him not fully trusting the source of his abilities now that he knew, what he was. Another thought had him clean shaven and looking younger than he would like especially with the life he lives.
With that in mind he decided his first order of business would be to find out what exactly had led to him being unconscious in some ditch and then arrested. As if sensing his train of thought the slowly forming shape that had taken home on his left forearm began to pulsate with pain, August's right hand immediately moving to grip onto the source of his current pain, in an attempt to stifle the agony that seemed to coarse through his veins leading away from the black blob.

THIS TIME AROUND the pain did not cause him to lose consciousness and only left him disoriented with his eyes unable to focus, he powered through it nonetheless, still set on finding out what had happened to him and where the still uncomprehendable blob on his forearm had come from and why it was pulsing like it was a living being.
He decided to dress himself manually incase magic had anything to do with the sudden flashes of pain from the dark mark and took a final glance around the forsaken apartment pocketing the golden key and setting out back into the world, keeping his head down so he didn't get recognized and apprehended all over again he began his journey to the Untouchables base.
