I woke up sweaty and breathing really heavy. I had another bad dream. Ever since my dad has left us, they keep on getting worse. I looked over at my alarm clock. It was 6:47. I guess I had to get ready to go to school. I'm in grade 12 now and can't wait to get out. I hopped in the shower and let the hot steamy water drip down my body. I relaxed a little. After a much needed 20 minute shower, I got out and threw on a pair of leggings and a sweater. It was fall so I had to dress warm. I glanced out my window and looked at the leaves falling if the trees. It truly was beautiful with all the different colours.

"Honey! Breakfast is ready!" My mom yelled from downstairs. I was pretty close to my mom if you ask me. Ever since my dad left we got even closer, she was the only family I had left. My brother died in the war a few years ago and my sister left to go to L.A. With some hotshot. I slowly walked down the stairs into the kitchen. "Smells good" I said. My mom plopped a plate of toast, eggs and bacon in front of me. I thanked her and continued eating. "I gotta go mom the bus is here!" I yelled. "Okay bye sweetie!" She kissed my cheek and I ran out.

I put my headphones on and sat alone in the back of the bus as usual. Me and my mom decided to go on a trip to Florida during the Christmas break. 1 week in beautiful, sunny, hot Florida, I can't wait.

My thoughts were interrupted by someone poking my shoulder. I thought it was my imagination but I looked up and saw a girl standing in front of me. "Is anyone sitting here?" She pointed to the spot next to me. "Nope" I moved my backpack and let her sit down. She sat down and I looked over at her. She had long, wavy brown hair and brown eyes.

I took my headphones off an put them away. It was kinda awkward until she introduced herself. "Hi I'm Mia Smith" she said. "I'm Cassidy Micheal" I said as we shook hands. "Are you new here? I've never seen you around." I asked. "Yeah my family just moved down here from Arizona." "Wow. That's pretty far away" I said. We chatted on the bus for awhile until we got to school. "Can you help me find my first class?" "Yeah sure " I said grabbing her schedule. "Your in Miss Parker's class first. So math." "Okay thanks. I'll see you at lunch?" "Yeah see you later!" I said waving to her. I had a feeling it was going to be a good year with her.
