I can't breathe.

Silence.

Ba-dum...

Ba-dum...

The sound of my heartbeat.

It's slowing down.

My jaws are like a steal trap, refusing to let any of the sludge into my mouth. My empty lungs are screaming, and my head becomes dizzy.

In my mind, I'm counting the time that I've been down. There's only so long someone can survive without air. Three minutes, max. Especially for someone without enhancers like professional athletes...

1:31...

1:32...

1:33...

It feels so much longer. My legs begin to thrash and jerk, out of my control, the darkness behind my eyes become heavier, and I can feel myself going.

No, no, no...

I shake my head, refusing to go, but there's only so much that I can do. The grader traps me between the constant rush of fecal matter and freedom, and I scratch at it desperately.

"Help," I gurgle, knowing no one will here me.

With my last bit of strength, I look into my mind, opening it to the minds around me. I search for the mind I grabbed earlier, only to find it right beside me.

I throw out one of my spazzing arms, and it breaks the surface. I hope that it's enough as I drift into dark oblivion.
