Tonight was the big charity game against Devenford Prep. A meeting was called before the game. Mason figured out that the Beast would most likely be making an appearance tonight. Cell phones and the news channels will emit transmitted frequencies which will attract the Beast.
Scott came up with a plan, then a backup plan incase the first plan went to shit. I was to go with Stiles and Sam to speak with Noah to try and cancel the game. I've been trying to avoid him the whole time I'm here, but Sam thought it would be good for me to see him.
We got to the police station and I sighed regretting my choices once again. Stiles went on ahead and Sam stopped to face me since I wasn't moving.
"Sam I don't want to see him."
"It's going to help you."
"Don't make me Sammy please."
"I promise you're going to be glad I did. You trust me?"
"Of course."
"Then talk to him or just listen to what he has to say." I sighed.
"Fine. Come on." We walked inside and up to the sheriff's office. The door was open so we listened to their conversation. He still looked the same as he did when I last saw him. Less hair. But still the same. Sam cleared his throat to get their attention. Noah looked at me and his face softened.
"Nadeen?" I nodded.
"Noah." He smiled and moved closer to me.
"You're all grown up."
"Yeah that tends to happen in the span of about 8 years." He sighed when he understood what I meant.
"Nadeen I-"
"You forgot about me. You both did. When mom died you sent me away. I lost her too! You never called, wrote, or visited. Nothing. I was alone. I was a little girl with no family. No one that cared about me. While you two where here, building memories, and having a nice father son life." My voice cracked by the end. I wiped my away my tears roughly.
"So before you give your sorry excuse for an apology, save it. I've moved on. I'm happy with my life now, and I have a family who would do anything for me. I'm not here to listen to excuses. I'm here to do my job and that's it." I said before walking out.
"Nadeen wait." I heard Stiles call as I made my way outside.
"I don't want to hear it Stiles." I huffed. He ran in front of me.
"Please, just hear me out." I stopped and crossed my arms.
"I was a kid when you were sent away. And it killed me. I lost my mom then my sister...my best friend. Dad was overwhelmed with grief. He never listened to me when I begged him to bring you home. After a while I just got use to you being gone. Dad always made it seem like you weren't coming home ever. So I moved on. I'm sorry I didn't do more. And I'm sorry I wasn't there. But I'm here now. I want to be your big brother again." He finished. I took in everything he said.
Apart of me wanted to tell him to shove it. But the other part understood his position. I knew there was no use living in the past. I also knew Stiles and I would never be close again.
"Don't expect things to be the way they use to. I'm still leaving once the beast is dead." I told him.
"I understand." He nodded.
"By the way, you're only older by 12 minutes." I added. A smile broke out on his face.
"Can I hug you without getting shot?" He asked. I shrugged.
"No promises." He chuckled softly and pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged him back and let out a shaky breath. Being in his embrace overwhelmed me with emotion. I pulled away and wiped my eyes.
