As I came back from my morning walk, all I wanted to do was sleep. Sleep with my head burrowed under the comforter and my body enveloped in its familiar warmth. Morning walks were something which were both tiring and comforting to me. They reminded me of the long walks I used to take with my mother. During those walks we distanced ourselves from our daily routines and talked about anything and everything under the sun. They were -and still are- a part of my daily schedule and help me remember that even though those times are gone, they are a part of me and will always be.

Sleeping was sounding very good to my drowsy mind as I came back to my dorm. The dormitory was a U-shaped complex with rooms on each side. The three- storeyed building was steely grey in colour with black highlights. In the center was a small garden with seasonal flowers. The building bore a huge 'A' alphabet in its middle and below it was written in small font 'Girl's Dormitory'.

While walking towards my room I was thanking my lucky stars that my room was on the ground floor and that I could avoid the hassle of climbing stairs -my foe- everyday. The door to my room was nothing special. On the contrary it was quite discoloured due to constant sticking and removing of posters which belonged to the past students. The only decoration that I had put up was a badhanvaar to give it an Indian touch. It rattled merrily as I unlocked the door with the rusty key, which had been used by who-knows-how-many students.

My room was the reflection of my personality, if that was even possible. The walls were a basic beige, but the dark oak furnishings gave it a very elegant touch. I had put up simple fairy lights all around which gave it a very indoorish-homey-yet-chic vibe. I had a medium sized bookshelf pushed to one side of the wall along with a study table and on the other wall was a pretty basic vanity shelf with a mirror and a chest of drawers. Beside it was my wardrobe which held of my clothes. I had hung a few fandom-based posters and just above my bed was a simple digital clock.

I wearily removed my shoes and looked up to check the time. 6:30 AM. I still had time to take a shower and then get ready for my morning classes. I then grabbed my bathrobe and headed to the showers. The shower system here reminded me of the quote-" The early bird gets the worm". it was pretty simple,if you made it to the showers early, you would get a clean and mostly dry stall. But as more students pour in, they would get wet and soiled and just Gross! I was lucky to be one of the early ones. I put my phone on the ledge which was the place to actually keep soaps and shower gels. It also made a great phone holder if you wanted to blast your music while taking a bath.

The tunes of the Kalank title track had me singing along as I did my business. I was still humming to the tunes of Arijit Singh when I reentered my room. The songs were still playing on full volume. I really felt sorry for the poor girl who had her room next to me. I twirled around in my room, as I made my way towards the vanity. I picked my comb up and started the exhausting process of detangling my hair. Seriously, half the times my hand ached for keeping it up for so much time.

As I was working on my hair I stared at my reflection. I was neither the gorgeous girl on the magazine nor the plain jane. I guess I fell in the middle with my chestnut-brown hair, and russet brown hair. My complexion was fair enough and my ears were adorned with the earrings my father had gifted a few a years ago.

After I was satisfied with removing the majority of tangles, I quickly tied my hair in a pony tail and applied just a bit of kaajal, for a finishing touch.

I turned to check the time and sure enough I only had a few minutes if I wanted to leave my room on time. I quickly tidied up my room, and then opened my wardrobe for a quick change. I was pretty sure that my pj's wouldn't be appreciated in the lecture hall despite the comfort they offered me. I swiftly changed into my favourite jeans and a maroon sweatshirt. The weather was still a bit chilly, and I had a tendency to catch a cold quite easily. As soon as I was ready, I slipped on my sneakers and grabbed my bag and my phone, not before slipping in my diary-cum-journal.
