Unplanned Reunions

With a spring in her step and two ghosts at her side, (Y/N) walked to a cafe just outside the courthouse. She sat near a window that looked out to the garden in front of the courthouse and ordered a water. (Y/N) sent word out to the Guild and the mafia that the weretiger was at the courthouse, to which they responded: "We'll be there shortly." All she had to do was wait for the right moment, Kyoka's parents at her side.

Atsushi handed the young girl what looked to be a dessert, carrying a warm smile on his face. He sits next to her while talking, appearing to hold a peaceful conversation. That was, at least, until her phone rang. Mrs. Izumi seemed to panic. "Please, Kyoka, don't answer it!" cried her mother, with no one else able to hear her. (Y/N) could only smile at the mother's desperate attempt to protect her child. All (Y/N) did was drink her water. "You can't let her answer that phone!" (Y/N) sighed and swirled the ice in her drink around, a signal to stop talking and obey orders. There was nothing Mrs. Izumi could do.

There was no preventing the activation of Demon Snow, and her attack against Atsushi. The boy fell to the ground, blood slowly leaking from the wound in his chest. Kyoyo, an older woman from the Port Mafia, stood at a distance from the daughter and began to walk closer, talking. She stomped on Atsushi, digging her heel into the wound that ran from his back to his stomach. Despite being horribly wounded, Atsushi pulled himself up. Kyoyo pulls Kyoka closer, as though she were her own mother. Mrs. Izumi didn't like this one bit. She screamed and cried, begging (Y/N) to go out and protect her daughter, but nothing happened. There had to be a perfect time.

A fight broke out very quickly, bringing a smile to (Y/N)'s delicate face and struck more fear into the hearts of Kyoka's parents. It was perfect. The heat of the fight brought all the attention away from Kyoka and made her parents more desperate to pull their child from the situation. With the Guild now in the fight, all attention was off Kyoka. As if an angel had been watching over her, the spirits of Kyoka's parents came, swooped her up, and brought her to where she would never have to see anyone else ever again.

That place was the house just behind the graveyard.

The Izumi parents were pleased to bring their daughter there for safety, and (Y/N) was just as pleased to keep her there. She served tofu and tea in the hopes of making peace with the child. "I'm sorry I didn't step in sooner," (Y/N) said with a kind smile. Kyoka didn't respond. "Would you like me to leave you be so you can reunite with your parents?" The girl nodded and (Y/N) left, allowing a much-needed family reunion to take place. After a few hours, (Y/N) came back into the room with bloodied gloves and a sweet scent trailing behind her. Humming to herself, (Y/N) took off the gloves and disposed of them before going back over to Kyoka and checking in on her. "Everything alright over here, friend?"

Kyoka nodded with a smile on her face. "I've never been better! Thank you for letting me see my parents again," replied the girl enthusiastically.

"My pleasure!" (Y/N) had her smile on her face as she sat down. "If you don't mind me asking, what is it you really want? Do you want to be with the mafia or the agency?"

Kyoka's smile was wiped away completely. "How do you know about that?"

A nervous laugh left the woman's lips. "I couldn't help but overhear parts of the fight going on. I'm sorry if the question alarmed you."

"Oh. I'm sorry, I hadn't considered that." Kyoka looked out the window towards the pool of tombstones outside. "I think I want to side with the Armed Detective Agency."
