Chapter three
Jordan
I don't know why I got so mad today in the library with Kyle. It's just that the topic really gets to me sometimes, the way my father acts toward the African American race and how that made me so ignorant when it came to society just makes me upset every time someone brings up the topic. These thoughts made their way through my head as I drove to the only person that I knew will help me calm down.
I stopped at the front desk as I made my way into the boarding school
"Why hi Jordan , how are you today, let me guess you're here to see Hannah?" Mrs. Smith asked.
"And you know it" I said with a smile.
"Well you know where to find her" she said pointing toward the elevator "she has a new handsome friends she's been hang out with a lot lately" she said with a wink.
"Oh really, I'll make sure to ask her " I said with a chuckle as I made my way to the elevator. When I made it to hannah's dorm room I pushed the door bell that lit up her whole room.
A few moments later she open the door bringing me into a bear hug.
"Youre here !!" she yelled
'someone's happy to see me'. I Said using sign language. She hit my shoulder playfully and rolled her eyes. When Hannah was 10 she got into an accident that made her death. She is really good at reading lips and knows how to hold a conversation, until she get real excited and speaks louder then I've ever heard anyone speak before, but we also use sign language. I met her because we were pen pals for a some silly project and toward the end of our freshman year we got to come to Chicago to the school to meet our pen pals, since then we've texted, Skyped, and I visited her every break i got. Being able to see Hannah anytime I want was one of the things I actually looked forward to when it came to moving to Chicago. The school Hannah goes to is a boarding school with a special program for death students, but kids who aren't death still attend.
"I've missed you! I haven't seen you in like 4months" she said bringing me into another bear hug.
"I know, I missed you too" I said after she finally released me.
"But I thought you weren't coming until Saturday" she said "I would've cleaned up if I knew you were coming this early"
"Yeah I know I wanted to surprise you" I lied but she saw straight through it.
"what's wrong ?" she asked
"Well today in my study hall I was hanging out with a friend and she brought up the subject of racism and I sorta got real cold and didn't talk to her all day cause I didnt want her to ask me about my reasonings" I said with a sigh "just what am I suppose to say if she asks me 'oh well my father is a super racist who said I couldn't have any friends who is of your race' or do I just keep his racism a secret which involves me keeping our friendship a secret to most people who knows I'm the son of one of the richest guys around" I asked, I didn't know what to do, but I did know that Kyle was a great friend already and I didn't want our friendship to be ruined because of my stupid farther cause if he found out then I know he will find a way to end our friendship. The thoughts of what he did to my brother came into my head and made me shudder.
"youre thinking to much about it" she said after I finished my rant, "it's not like the two of you are dating or anything you are just friends, as lng as you are safe and not to out there around him nothing will happen." she said with a smile.
