Figured Out

Link and Sidon had it all planned out. After what happened that morning, the two couldn’t resist each other. They needed to be alone, together. They prepared on spending the remainder of their day at Ralis Pond. Although the surrounding area might have been a PTSD trigger for Link after his recent nightmare, if it meant being alone with Sidon, he was willing to risk it.

First, Sidon went and grabbed food from the royal kitchen, a blanket for Link and him to sit on, and a woven basket to carry everything in. Next, Link prepared his weapons and armor just incase the Hinox known to live at Ralis Pond was still there. Then, they grouped up in front of Mipha’s Statue and began their miniscule journey to Ralis Pond. They walked up the left main staircase, remaining perhaps a bit too close to one another in public. They eventually passed Gruve staring at the waterfalls like he usually did, but then SHE appeared.

Tula came prancing over to Link and Sidon. She made sure to cross a bit too far into Sidon’s bubble, but stopped just close enough to keep him from popping. It’s evident that she’s done something like this before and is well versed in it. She wedged herself in between Link and Sidon, causing them to become distantly apart.

“Oh, Prince Sidon! Don’t you look absolutely dreamy today!” Tula flirted.

Sidon glanced over Tula’s shoulders and noticed Link staring at her, touching the hilt of his master sword.

“Thank you, Tula, but I’ve got somewhere to be right now, and I, quite frankly, must go.” Sidon said in a rushed manner. He gently pushed Tula away and motioned to Link that he desperately wanted to leave quickly.

“Goodbye, Tula!” Sidon waved once him and Link were a fair distance away from her. Tula waved back, obviously upset, and walked away.

Sidon sighed with relief, “That fanclub will be the death of me.” Link couldn’t help but smile at Sidon. Link found him strangely adorable when he was upset.

They walked in silence, but it was comforting. They quietly enjoyed the presence of one another. Together, they basked in their newly discovered emotions.

They finally reached Ralis Pond, and, surprisingly, the Hinox wasn’t there. Someone else must have handled it while they were occupied this morning.

Ralis Pond wasn’t very deep for a body of water. It was more like the world’s largest puddle rather than a pond. The water just barely reached over Link’s ankles. However, it was overflowing with wildlife. Hot-Footed Frogs hopped and croaked and Sneaky River Snails slithered under the surface of the water. Numerous aquatic plants engulfed the waters including Fleet-Lotus Flowers.

Link and Sidon decided to sit underneath the small wooded area on the outskirts of the pond. Sidon whipped out the blanket and gently lied it on the grass. It was a pastel yellow, gingham blanket that was as soft as a baby’s bottom. They sat down and Sidon pulled out a plate of cheese and crackers from the woven basket secured in his elbow crease.

Link picked up a cracker and a slice of cheese and slide the combination into his mouth. The buttery cracker combined with the savory cheese was to die for.

Sidon smiled, “Is it good?”

Link nodded his head and licked his lips to get the last morsels of salt.

Sidon shifted his body closer to Link.

Link could feel the warmth coming from Sidon.

“Can I ask you something?” Sidon asked.

Link nodded his head. He felt his heart stir in anticipation.

“When did you figure it out?”

There was a brief pause in the conversation.

“Figure what out?” Link said submissively. He knew what was coming.

Sidon hesitated for a moment and then cooed, “That you love me.”

They locked eyes. Sidon’s words hanged in the warm air. To tell the truth, Link couldn’t answer his question because Link hadn’t figured it out yet either. That’s why he was there, in that moment, eyes locked, bodies close, hearts beating. Link noticed the gleam in Sidon’s eyes. Sidon leaned closer into Link, closer and closer. Link closed his eyes and felt the touch of Sidon’s lips against his. They were soft and warm; an intoxicating sensation. As their lips embraced more and more, Sidon brought his right hand up and caressed Link’s cheek. His hands were firm, but the gentle motion gave Link goosebumps. Sidon slowly moved his hand upward and into Link’s hair, grasping it and caressing the back of Link’s head. Link wanted more. He pushed into the kiss. Sidon pushed equally as hard. The passion and desire the two emitted could have evaporated the entire pond. Their lips danced the tango. Left and right. Up and Down.

“PRINCE SIDON! MASTER LINK!” Sidon pushed off of Link and quickly stood up. Link remained on the ground bewildered by what just happened.

Laflat was running towards Link and Sidon as fast as she could possibly run. She reached the pond and gasped for air.

Sidon was extremely on edge. “What’s wrong, Laflat?!”

Laflat bent over and swallowed air between each word she spoke, “Finley-and-Sasan-went to-Shatter-back-Point.”

Sidon turned abruptly, “We must go, now! Finley and Sasan are in grave danger! I fear the worst if they come face to face with the lynel of Ploymus Mountain!"
