John's POV

I slammed the door in Roger's face and immediately started sobbing. Veronica was in the backyard watering the garden, so I stood at the front door balling my eyes out without disruption.

A few minutes later I decided I needed to leave the house, so I jumped in my car and took off. At this point I was out of tears. I decided to go to the nearest park. It was later in the evening, so no kids were around.

I wandered around until I found a bench, and I sat down. I was exhausted,  and I didn't feel like getting up early to go to rehearsal again tomorrow.

You are probably wondering why I was crying. The thing is, every time I see Roger, he looks so feminine. I can never take my eyes off of him. Veronica is still a good friend of mine, but I don't feel the same way about her as I do with Roger. When Veronica kissed me, I pulled away. She looked disappointed, so I kissed her again. I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw Roger peek through the window. He had a girl wrapped around his arm, and when he saw me his face dropped.

Did he feel the same way? Whatever it was, it made me sad to see Rofer in such a sad state. I rushed to the door and spoke to Roger. The girl he was with was shooting me glares, but I ignored her. I could tell Roger wasn't sober, and that he shouldn't be driving around in the state he was in.

I slammed the door because I didn't want to see Roger. He had a pang of guilt in his eyes. He looked at me like I was a traitor, but his eyes were apologizing to me. These mixed emotions made me want to break down in tears, so that I did.

The sun was setting, and I figured that I should probably get home before dark. Veronica hated when I stayed out after dark. She was more like a mother to me than she was my wife.

I drove home to see that the house was empty. I walked into the kitchen, reading the note Ronnie had left:

John-

Me and the girls thought tonight was a good night to go out. I should be home around twelve. If you need anything, I'm sure one of the boys can come and help you. Love you xoxo

                   -Ronnie

I crumpled up the paper and threw it in the trash. That's when an idea hit me. I rushed to the phone and dialed the number.

Please, please pick up!
