"Are you alright?"
Her hand left the rock as she took a few more steps towards him. The stranger pressed his hands against his wound, glaring up at her. But there was more than mere hatred inside those crimson eyes.
Her breath hitched. It looked worse up close.
"You're hurt."
As if it wasn't obvious.
Ochaco knelt down and moved her hand closer, as if to touch the ugly wound. But a kick in the stomach made her fall back. A groan escaped her lips when her back hit the ground.
She hissed as she stood back up.
"You need help."
Katsuki huffed. Ochaco raised her hands in the air at his reaction, not entirely sure if that would help him trust her.
"I only want to help you." She'd do all the talking, it seemed. Not once had he opened his mouth, and she'd already spoken a hundred times.
Even though she frowned, the brown-haired young lady was just too stubborn to give up. And so Ochaco rose to her feet.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw how Katsuki's gaze landed upon her once again, and despite the atmosphere, felt her cheeks warm up. Something about those crimson orbs...
She walked forward again. And Ochaco's fingers were only a few inches from his body, but Katsuki raised his leg again.
The kick was strong enough to knock the wind right out of her.
Groaning, she placed her hand under her head, turning it into a pillow of some sort. She lay there for a little while.
She made an attempt to stand up, but to her surprise, a pair of hands pinned her down again.
Ochaco prayed her lungs would open, for they'd closed, and all she could take in were short breaths, those that burn your insides, just like fire. Katsuki's teeth were gritted and his hands clenched. The young man's right fist was only a few inches away from her face.
Even the tiniest drops of sweat on her forehead shone under the warm glow of the sunlight coming from the entrance of the cave. Her hands trembled under his, and it almost felt as though he was shaking too.
"I just want to help..." She would've sworn his fierce eyes softened, if only for a second. He let go of her and moved back, sitting on the ground and placing his back against the rock once again.
Although doubts had started to cloud her head, Ochaco stood up. Making her way to where he sat, the young lady got on her knees. Lips a thin line, heart racing, she reached forward.
The young man didn't even flinch.
He let her move his hands away, let her place her own on the bloody mess. All the while looking at her, Katsuki sat still as Ochaco's palms glowed.
"There. All done."
He'd expected her to leave.
He'd hoped she'd stand up and walk away.
But a smile touched Ochaco's lips, and she held her hand out for him to take.
Life is just so full of surprises, isn't it?
"By the way, I'm Uraraka Ochaco. It's nice to meet you!"
