Albatross down part 3

Two days passed since the incident. Two long days that she sat by his hospital bed ,close to him as much as possible,  whispering in his ear ,reading him her notebook , stopping at some parts that brought up  deja vu's and made her cry.
She eagerly  waited to see him awake.
She rejected the requests to leave his side and go home to rest and shower.

She left his side only  to refresh herself and only if one of her friends  Emre or Leyla replaced  her.

Her body was stiff from  sleeping on the hospital chair.
She set by Can's bed side, her head resting close to his head,close enough to hear his breathing. She wanted to make sure he could hear her voice between all the bipping sounds. She hoped he could distinguish  her scent l from all the antiseptic smells.

Two long days of  thinking and realizing  how naive she is, how Can was right all along. Blaming herself for eveything that happened thinking she could have lost Can forever. He could have died! The bullet that hit Can's left shoulder nicked an artery causing major blood loss. Luckily the medics came in time to stop the bleeding. The doctor who operated on him said he was very lucky and strong and he'll make full recovery. 

Yigit turned out to be a real psycho, he got arrested and now behind bars. How could she explain Can of what happen while she wasn't even sure how to process everything herself.

She tried to clear her head,concentrating on Can's health now. That was more important then anything at the moment. The questions will come and they will have to face the facts together.

Can was slowly regaining consciousness and bipping sounds  penetrating his ears.
Tightening his eyebrows when the annoying smell of antiseptic interfeared the sweet smell he recognized as Sanem's.

His eyelids flickered but  were too heavy to open.
He felt the comfort bed underneath him which was so different from the hard grassy ground he last layed on.
He moved his head to the left  and dragged his right arm to his shoulder  when he suddenly felt a sharp pain. His lips parted  releasing a sigh of agony. He tried to move his left arm but it was somehow immobilzed by some tight hold.

The pain made his mind clearer and he started to get restless and lifted one knee. Hearing a chair moving  and feeling a warm palm over his right hand made him stop moving and trying to understand what was going on. His blood pressure rose and his pulse increased making the beeping sounds more alarming. As Sanem noticed Can started to get restless she  rose from the chair and said
"Can, it's me, Sanem ,please stay calm, don't try to move, i'll call the nurse" ,her face where lighten with happiness with the fact that Can just  regained conciousness but  trails of concerned between her eyebrows never left her face.
She stood up and called Emre who was standing outside the door and asked him to call a nurse informing him Can was probably waking up. All the friends and family were outside the room  and when they heard Sanem they all got up from the waiting chairs they were sitting on outside the room, sticking their heads into the room and talking together.

Two minutes passed and a nurse came in with a doctor asking all them to stay out while half closing the door.

Noticing Sanem's voice and scent calmed him down. He felt her other hand stroking his forehead and cheeks.

Hearing  many familliar voices in the background now interrupted by an unfamiliar male voice giving medical  instructions and another woman's voice answering  he felt the soft hand  leaving his face and the male voice spoke firmly "Mr. Can please open your eyes  ,can you do that for me"?

Slowly his eyelid were starting to open and white light met his sight. He was trying to focus and talk but his voice was rusty.
He saw a nurse standing above him  serving him a plastic glass of water with a straw to his lips so he could drink.
Sanem was at his side immediatly helping him to rase his head a bit. He took few zipps of water and was now   full aware of where he was and who was there. His eyes were monitoring the room now  looking at Sanem  on the opposite side of his bed. Not far behind  he noticed his friends picking out from the half closed door with worried but happy faces waving to him trying to gain his attention. His eyes came back to Sanem.
She was safe and she was with him. She was now giving him her big smile but he noticed see she is crying. The nurse checked his levels  while the doctor asked him questions and wanted to know how he felt and if he needs  pain meds. He then  explained Can of his injury. Can answered everything with harsh voice and the doctor and nurse accused themselves leaving the room while pushing back all the people who were at the door, closing it with explaining they need to leave and let him rest.
Both Can and Sanem were alone now. Not speaking with words but speaking with there eyes. Sanem got closer again taking his right palm in hers  carefully not to move the infusion ,lifting them to her lips.
A moment passed and the nurse came back holding a syring and added the liquid into the infusion bag explaining this was a pain killer that would take effect within several minutes and will  make him relax so he could rest easily.

Sanem pulled the chair  closer with one hand  never letting go of his hand.
Now watching Can's eyelids start to close as he was fighting the drug. She set down and said "Go back  to sleep my love , I'm right here" as she put down their still holding hands on the soft blanket. He was loosing the battle of staying awake watching her beautiful face  as the drug started taking it's effect so he slightly nodded and fell asleep. His palm never left hers.
