(quick note but sorry for not updating in a while! I was a bit overwhelmed from the last episodes xD gosh 🙈 It was such a great ending, tho it kinda felt a tiny bit rushed bUt hey, I still loved it 👏 Did I mention how much I love the character development in Dororo? Cuz it's great 👏 and I love it very much.)

(Mios' point of view)

It had been a week since the incident and Mio was feeling a bit better. Well, not mentally. She physically felt empty and she found herself crying silently most of the time these days.

Hyakkimaru was, however, a constant source of comfort for her and it broke Mio knowing how gentle the warrior was around her.

He would hold her to his chest while she cried with the occasional sounds of Hyakkimaru speaking.

"I will protect you Mio.

It was so odd for a man to be so gentle towards her but Hyakkimaru, made her feel safe. And all she really wanted was to be safe even if she felt ashamed by being so close to him.

Shame colored her soul drawing her further from Hyakkimaru. She felt that one day, he would leave her.

The feeling of hands-on her abdomen made her jerk drawing a muffled moan from her throat. Mio's eyes flicked up to meet the eerie, dark eyes of an old woman. Her skin was thin and splotched with liver spots, her hair silver and pulled into a tight bun, and her most defining feature; a flash of a gold tooth.

The woman was the medical woman of the village and had not told them her name but simply implored them to refer to her as grandma. So, that's what they did.

Dororo had gone around asking about the woman's name but everyone simply called her granny or grandma. Mio found it queer but kept the though tucked into the back of her brain. It was rude to ask such things as the one who saved your life.

Granny, was very quiet, and much like Hyakkimaru spoke rarely. Pleasant.

When the woman was done inspecting Mio's wicked scar she smiled gently.

"You should move around a bit dear. Your healing is coming along nicely."

Mio blinked and nodded quickly covering herself up while letting go of a breath she didn't know she was holding. She hatted being looked at.

"Thank you, ma'am, i-i'm really thankful for your hospitality I can-

"Shush. I will go fetch that boy of yours."

And with a flash of a gold tooth, Granny had hobbled off and was gone.

Mio sat in thought as she looked outside. What was Hyakkimaru thinking? She noticed the intensity in his body language like a spring tightening, ready to let loose. It continued to make her interested to know what was on his mind.

Not only did it interest her but also worried Mio too. Mio knew the situation with Hyakkimaru having to kill demons to get body parts back. It was dangerous work for the tender beast she was slowly trying to understand.

Mio's thoughts began to make her sleepy so she yawned and leaned against the wall preferring to sit up.

Her head bobbed to her left and she was about to sink into sleep but was startled when Mio heard a voice behind her.

"Is baa-chan gone?"

Mio chuckled softly knowing instantly who it was.

"Ah, Dororo. Where you here the whole time?"

Mio asked softly as she gazed at the girl who stumbled out of a wooden crate with silverfish scales flashing here and there.

"Yeah, I snuck in to make sure you were alright."
