Rain Boots
Blue with purple polka dots,
Yellow with giraffe spots,
Green with orange stripes,
The rain boots line the top step.
On my way in the door
I hear first the cry of joy,
Then the running steps,
And my arms are now full.
Three young children
Come to welcome
Their mother back inside
The warm, dry house.
The wet and rainy day
Made for fun outside
And muddy footprints
Up to the top step
Where I found them;
Letting me know
What kind of stories
I would hear tonight.
Blue with purple polka dots,
Yellow with giraffe spots,
Green with orange stripes,
The rain boots let me know
That they stayed safe and dry.
