Light penetrated through the lids of my eyes as I am lifted onto the trembling heights of my fathers shoulders, there is a sense of dignity within the distress. Not a single drop of water is in sight and the flowers droop from wilted buds. Heat radiates off the concrete below and the sun scorches from above. My head bobs with each step my father takes. My gaze drifts in and out and I have no energy to wipe the sweat rolling down my face.
I see snakes dancing around his feet waiting for a slip that will send me tumbling down into their wide, hungry mouths. I imagine them withering and dying from the heat. The beautiful ones were always the kind to plunge deadly venom into you the second you gave them the chance. I guess I should be more careful.

Maybe that's why I shuddered years later when they described your golden eyes.
The coils of your locks suffocated me and the rattle in your voice was unsettling.•♬•♫•
