Goodbye Cassidy.
Welcome back James!
That's right, I'm back as Melodys number one.
Cassidy and Melody aren't in good terms right now.
Mostly because Melody is pissed about Cassidy dating Josh.
And now it's really hitting her.
Cassidy posted her Sadie Hawkins proposal on instagram.
That didn't sit well with Melody.
Sadie Hawkins was a school dance where the stereotype of guys asking girls to dances gets flipped.
It's a girls ask guys dance.
However, it's not as fancy as prom.
I've gone every year sine Freshman year.
I only went with a group of friends.
But since all my friends already have dates, I have no one.
"Hey stranger!" Kyle smiles, walking over to me.
"Hey" I say, throwing the football up.
"What are you doing out here?" he asks.
"Thinking" I state.
"Well, what better place to think then your second home" he shrugs, sitting next to me "What's on your mind?"
I sigh, sitting up "feelings"
Kyle chuckles "Uh oh, who's the lucky girl?"
"Melody..." I mumble.
"Really?"
I nod "Yeah"
Kyle laughs a little "Well, you're a junior, you only have one more year of high school left...and I can tell you this, I regret a lot of things I've done at this school...but I don't regret any of my realationships, they teach you lessons, and that's what school is for"
"Easy for you to say, you're royalty at school" I scoff.
"Yeah, it seems like it doesn't it? But now it's basketball season, and soon I'll be back to being another one of the popular guys, not Kyle the football star" Kyle shrugs "That's how high school works, and if you want something, you have to go get it, don't wait for it to come to you"
I sigh "You're right"
"I know. Now go get her"
"What?"
"I'm not stupid, She likes you too, she just didn't want to because of your friendship so she looked passed it an convinced herself that she liked Josh" Kyle says.
"How did you-"
"Just go"
I nod, handing him the football and running to my car.
I left to parking lot in a roar going to make the worst mistake ever.
Turning onto the main road and following a fire truck.
All the way to Melodys house...
And there it was, her house fully engulfed in flames with her aunt standing in the front crying.
I parked and got out of my car.
"Please step ba-"
I push past the police officer and went over to Mrs. Jackson.
"W-what happened" I gulp.
She looks at me with tears in her eye "I'm sorry"
My eyes fill up with tears "She's not-"
I'm cut off with one head nod.
She was still in there.
Her and Mr.Jackson.
No..no no no.
This can't be happening.
This isn't how the story is supposed to end!
We were supposed to have a happy ending!
She was supposed to be here, okay, and I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend. Then her and Cassidy were supposed to make up and still be friends. She was supposed to become friends with Josh. And then we could go to his games and cheer him and Tyler on. Tyler...her and Ty were supposed to Make up.
This can't happen!
It can't be the end....Can it?
I walk away and get back in my car staring at the steering wheel.
I was crying out of shock.
And that's the worst kind.
You have no emotion on your face, but a river is running down your cheeks.
It wasn't long before I started sobbing though.
And with that....the book closed.
Melody Jackson passed away in a house fire on Sunday November 5th 2019.
Her funeral was held a week later.
She was my best friend and the girl I loved.
School wasn't the same.
Cassidy moved back to their old school.
Tyler barely was himself.
And Kyle was preparing to Graduate.
People come and they go.
But Melody was special.
She changed the ways of our school.
Nobody was known as a football head or a cheerleader, we all saw each other as just...students.
Of course the scocial status' continued, but why wouldn't it? It's high school after all.
The last few months were crazy.
But I never expected it...to end like this
