Unicorns

I believe in Unicorns

They exist in a place filled with beauty and peace

Far away from the evil and ugliness that surrounds me

I believe in Unicorns

They’ve been blessed with powers that can heal 

Not cursed with hands that injure and destroy

I believe in Unicorns

Majestic creatures, legendary and strong

Unlike the thing that stares at me in the mirror

Weak and incapable, possessing nothing but flaws

I believe in Unicorns 

Because when I think of them, 

Even in darkness my heart can’t help but fill with love.

I believe in Unicorns…

With the hopes that one day

I can somehow believe in myself.
