Less than two hours ago, he had declared he would never step foot in Tyler Down's home and yet here he was. Montgomery wanted to punch himself in the face. He hated himself for eating his own words. He hated himself for being so weak that he came crawling to Tyler fucking Down of all people.

He carefully avoided Tyler's gaze when he answered the door. Tyler just crossed his arms. "And here I thought you would NEVER set foot in my 'creepy lair' he replied mockingly.

Montgomery sighed in frustration.
He now also hated the photographer for rubbing his moment of weakness in his face.
"Fuck this." He spat as he turned around to get back in his jeep.

"Wait!" Tyler sighed. "No, Don't go. I'm actually glad you came." He actually wasn't lying. He had no desire to help Montgomery but he still didn't want to fail the assignment himself and he didn't want the jock coming for his head if he did get end up getting benched.

Montgomery narrowed his eyes wondering what the other boys angle was but reluctantly followed him inside. He just hoped the little freak hadn't planned out some revenge plan that ended up with him tied up in a basement and tortured and not in a kinky kind of way.

Montgomery glanced around Tyler Down's bedroom. He wasn't sure what he was expecting to find but video games and posters of punk rock bands weren't it. He always thought that nerds slept in bunk beds and wore star wars Pajama's but Tyler Down slept in a king size bed even though he was 100℅ a virgin.

"You can sit down you know." Tyler said when he noticed him eyeing the bed.

Montgomery slowly took a seat on the end of the bed. "So where's your stuff?" Tyler questioned impatiently. The sooner they could this over with, the sooner he got Monty out of his house. "Pens, paper all that shit." He added when Montgomery looked a little lost on what he was talking about.

"Oh crap I must have left them in my locker." He lied. The truth was that his father had tried to physically attack when he returned home after school. That was why he hadn't brought supplies with him. Not that he was about to let Tyler know about any of that.

But Tyler wasn't buying it. He narrowed his eyes. "So you forgot your equipment to study while you were on your way to go study...?". He knew that Monty was dumb but he wasn't THAT mentally challenged. He was just lying, trying to get out of having to do any work. Tyler grabbed a pen and a notebook off his desk and through them onto the bed in front of Montgomery.

"Thanks." Montgomery mumbled and the two boys worked on their project in uncomfortable silence.

About an hour later, Tyler groaned when his mother barged into his bedroom uninvited. "Sorry sweetie I didn't mean to interrupt you boys. I was just so happy to see that you had a friend over that I baked some cookies." She gushed holding out the tray in front of Montgomery.

Montgomery smirked a little and grabbed a cookie. His eyes widened as he took a bite. "Holy shit, Mrs Down these are so fucking good."  He complimented, speaking with his mouth full.

Tyler watched his mother flinch at Monty's language but still beamed at the praise. "Why thank you..." She paused for a moment."Tyler sweetheart you haven't introduced your friend. Don't be rude."

"He's not really my-"  Tyler began to deny before he was cut off.

"I'm Monty. It's  nice to meet you Mrs Down." He smiled politely but there was underlying amused gleam in his eyes. Tyler held his breath waiting to see if his mother made the connection that Monty = Montgomery De La Cruz but she didn't appear to put it together. If she did, she would add poison to the next batch of cookies.

"Sorry about that..." Tyler apologised awkwardly once she had left his bedroom. Montgomery chuckled softly when he heard the anger in his voice and noticed the blush on Tyler's cheeks. It was kind of cute.

WHAT THE FUCK?!?

Montgomery wanted to punch himself in the face when he released what he had just been thinking. "You shouldn't apologise." Montgomery replied vaguely."You could have parents that do a lot worse than just embarrass you..."

Tyler reflected on Monty's words for a moment and suddenly found himself curious what the life of Montgomery De La Cruz looked like when he wasn't on the field or slamming kids into lockers.
