"Aar, ahoy there!" A five year old Michael Mell yelled across his yard, his squeaky voice made as deep as a five year old's can go.

"Ahoy matie!" Jeremy Heere yelled back from the other side, a cardboard sword in his grip which he waved frantically, "Find any treasure?!"

"Nah, not a nickle!" Michael replied, "Have you?!"

"As a matter of fact, I have!" Jeremy said triumphantly, "I found it buried in the sand, on a beach not far from here!"

"Is that so?!" Michael enquired, "I don't suppose you could spare some for me?!"

Jeremy tilted his head back and laughed, "You have to be joking!"

Michael pouted, adjusting his pirate hat which he got from a costume store earlier that day. "Well, if you're not going to give it to me, you give me no choice but to take it by force! An guarde!"

"Oh, you've asked for it!" Jeremy said playfully

They ran to each other, cardboard swords at the ready, and met in the middle. They then proceeded to limply swing them at each other, every now and then the two swords impacting. Michael couldn't help break character and start giggling uncontrollably.

Suddenly, Michael felt a drop on his arm, like the sky had just shed a tear. Then another, and soon it was pouring down with rain. "I suppose we better go back inside," he said to Jeremy fondly. "My moms have probably made dinner for us anyway"

"Yeah, that was fun" Jeremy said with a smile. "We should play pretend again sometime"

Michael felt a warm glow in his stomach, despite the rain, and said "I'd like that"

Jeremy walked back inside, Michael following his stride.

"I hope we stay friends forever" Michael thought.
