Hey everyone! :) So, I've decided to make a long story. I've always made short stories and poetry and such, but I've never finished a long story! Sooooo I decided to write a romance. Except it's going to be a different sort of romance. heheh, read it and find out!  :) Oh! And I'll probably change the name of this story sometime in the near future, I'm just not sure exactly what it should be yet!

----------------------------------------------------------

The sirens shrill cries cut through the night air, and my panic rose. They were gaining. Adrenaline rushed through my veins as I tried to run faster. The night’s shadows cast upon the city, limiting my sight and I silently prayed that I wouldn’t trip over anything.

Running, running, they weren’t far behind now, and my breath came in short gasps. My muscles began to scream in protest as I pushed forward, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep going much longer. There had to be an escape!

Just when all hope seemed lost, I saw an alleyway and I veered of the main road without a second thought. Hoping it wouldn’t lead to a dead end, I ran down the slim alleyway when I felt something wet hit my check. I looked up and-

The sound of thunder awoke me and I sat up in bed, startled. I heard the water drops pelting my window, looking out to find it pouring. A little inconvenient for today, but I’d manage.

I shuffled around in my covers, when something wet dropped on my face. I looked up and frowned at the ceiling. Fantastic, it was leaking. Probably where the rain came from in my nightmare, since it wasn’t raining that night.

I pushed the nightmare from my mind. No, I wouldn’t  think about that anymore. Sighing, I rolled out of bed and stumbled across the apartment to the kitchen. First things first, breakfast.

I grabbed some eggs, bacon and grated cheese from the fridge that I’d picked up at the grocery store the day before and turned on the tiny stove. Once I cooked the bacon, I scrambled the eggs in a bowl and crushed the bacon and cheese into it. Pouring the contents into the frying pan, I mixed it around until it cooked.

When I first started living on my own, I soon came to realize that eggs and bacon were two of the only things I actually knew how to make, so I thought I might at least try to get creative with it.  Unfortunately, ‘creative’ wasn’t one of the words I’d use to describe it’s results. Terrifying might have fit better.

I put the dishes into the sink once I was finished and headed into my bedroom, all 3 steps away. Opening my closet, I looked at my meager amount of clothing that I had. There wasn’t much to choose from, which didn’t help since I wasn’t exactly sure what to wear when Job searching. Did you have to wear anything specific? Like a suit? Or perhaps a fancy dress? Not like I had any of those things anyways. I sighed and decided to grab a pair of jeans, and a nice looking shirt.

I walked into the bathroom and set my clothing on the tiny counter, noticing a small box sitting right next to them in the corner of my eye. Picking it up, it read, “Warm Brown Permanent Dye”. Ahh yes, the hair dye I’d bought yesterday. I remember now. I’d looked through the whole isle of stupid hair dye, trying to find the most bland looking color. It took me nearly an hour before I found one. I’d almost bought pink, because I’d seen teenage girls with that hair color and I’d assumed it was ‘cool’. But then I’d stick out like a sore thumb- something I didn’t want.

I looked into the mirror at my reflection. I didn’t complain, because I never much had a problem with how I looked. My honey blond hair was wavy and somewhat long, but not ridiculously so, and my structure was more petite compared to most. I was tall but not gigantic thankfully, and my cheeks were naturally pinkish. But what I liked most were my eyes. They were a deep sea blue, with hints of grey in them, the color of clouds. Now I frowned at my reflection. I didn’t want to dye my hair, but I knew I had to. Unless I wanted to go back again.

I heaved a sigh and grabbed the box of hair dye. Definitely not an option.
