In the fair lands of Caister, there was a king. He was beloved by many, and known as a fair and benevolent figure. He helped the poor and helpless, performed selfless gestures, and loved his entire kingdom. He helped his kingdom through many trials and hardships, but even the grand savior of Caister had to face his mortality. His hair slowly grayed, his eyesight slowly deteriorated and soon he became unable to do some of the things he was used to. Getting up became a chore in itself, as his old bones ached, and pained him.
In his final years, he set up a test for his three sons. They were to be given a small amount of money, and tested to see how long they could last on their own, for if a king couldn't make decisions with limited resources, what kind of ruler could they be? In the end, he watched his eldest two sons waste their money away, meaning only the youngest was able to inherit the throne.
Unfortunately the former king knew not of his youngest son's cruel and wicked nature. Not long after the youngest son, Alistair took the throne, his two eldest brothers soon vanished under mysterious conditions. Some thought he had sent them off for arranged marriages, and some thought they were exiled to some deserted area, but with little evidence to prove what happened, only rumors remained.
Along with the rumors of the lost princes came rumors that Alistair hired people to build a castle, and town themed labyrinth under the city, but with each of the workers also mysteriously vanishing, it remained nothing more than another morbid rumor.
It wasn't long until Alistair found himself a bride. After months of ignoring the pressures to court a noble woman, and fueled by accusations that unlike his late father he cared not for the poor and unfortunate, he found and wed a young seamstress. Unfortunately for the poor young woman, he cared very little for her, and only cared about building his reputation, so he could further his own plans.
It's not long after the union that the couple are blessed with a baby girl that they named Vivian. Despite the sullen atmosphere that was slowly begin to develop, many found themselves unable to feel any dread as they helped tend to the princess.
For many years, she would brighten up the halls of the castle, until one day, she, like the many people before her, mysteriously vanished. Soon, the kingdom of Caister became more of a gloomy and miserable place, and the disappearances would get more frequent.---
This is all I have written so far. Sorry it was so short, but I am really picky with my writing, and have written paragraphs before, that only got deleted for not being up to standard.
