She woke up with a start as she felt something heavy on her chest. She shot opened her eyes to find a lil girl smiling down at her. She was wearing a loose fit white shirt and baggy shorts. She picked up the child who argued in protest as she changed her into a more fitting outfit. Overalls and a faded purple shirt. The overall stopped at the girls knees and was a lil torn other than that she felt like she was good to go. She grabbed her bag and 3 sacks one full of dirty clothes and the other two empty. She walked over to the entrance not before grabbed her knife and gerber. Kit the little girl sat down next to her sister on the sturdy platform with a sack in hand. Once they touched the bottom the filed out as the older of the two scanned the cracks through the windows and finally the door. Kit sat still watching her with curious eyes as she got on her back and pushed away a pile of rubble with a grunt. She then climbed under and gave a low whistle. Kit got up and quietly squirm through the whole. A low whistle ment 'come but be as quiet as possible.' As soon as she came fully out she was met with a series of clicks. She duck down behind a bush as the older pushed another set of bricks over the whole. She looked through the bar gate and bushes at the world around her. It was weird quiet, humid, and covered with a thick must. Another low whistle and she was off trying to keep up with the flexible and immune body through the low ruble and mess with thorns. Their lead stoped multiple times to show them how to catch small mice and editable color. But mainly for her to catch up to her as she raced throughout the overgrowth. Finally she stopped again as she caught up to her as they neared a body of water. A large pipe stuck out of the ground spilling out water it was the hot season and as usual it was losing it's flow. She grabbed the heavy sack and a bar of soap and showed kit how to wash the clothes and wash them. The sun was high in the sky by the time she was nearly done. She laid the clothes down on a nearby flat rock and tree limbs mainly dry. Kit began walking around the brush trying to find mice. A little white one ran across her path as she dove for it. She missed as she tried again having it wriggle out of her grasp. It jumped into the bushes as she stuck out her hand again into the bushes. She had only looked away for 1 second as she wringed out the clothes shacking off the extra water. She jumped as a scream filled her ears as she turned to it's origin. Kit was on her back edging away from a crawling dead. With no time to waste she ran over and jumped over the zombie. She turned over and pinned it as she swung the cloth over it's face. It grunted and growled as it tried to wiggle out of her grasp to bite her. And out of pure instinct and blind with rage she pulled out her knife. By the time she calmed down she stabbed it all over his head in a bloody mess with a piece of his head missing. She looked up to see a shaking kit as she stood up and washed away the blood from her hands. She stood up grabbed her clothes and whisled a sharp tune. Kit got up and grabbed the clothes bags and was swiftly picked up by the older and was swept her into a nearby building. She grabbed a neairby broom and shoved it through the doors then a table the some chairs then ran from the door soon enough groans. Groans, and dragging feet began to fill her ears. Soon she turned to the little ball shivering in fear in the corner. She sighed as she turned to scan the store as the noise got louder. It had cases of shiny things that shone through the glass. They came in all different sizes color and odd shapes. She climbed over the desk to find some keys on a hoop. She opened up some of the cabinets and stumbled upon a small health kit. She looked up to find some emergency instruments on the far wall. A canister of fire repellant (or at least thats what she was told it was) and a axe. As she got up from behind the desk she saw kit. The little girl was staring into the glass at the shiny objects. She walked over to find her starring at a long thin rope with tiny flowers.
She took the keys and took out the rope and draped it over her head. She noticed the way it shined and tucked it under her shirt. She looked out the doors from a safe distance to not be seen from the lack of light and pictures on the glass. And where the roof expands over the door casting shadows to hide them. The blood in the water and carcass was enough to keep them away. She looked over kit's skin and noticed a lack of blood.
"No bites, good."
Her arms unscathed and untouched as no scratch was made. Her hands were covered in grit as she struggled to get away. She again glanced at the doors as the horde walked by. The horde was a massive mob of them traveling together at the first sign of the living. In their masses wether they walked or crawled they all had one thing in common...... They are all dead. They don't sleep, breathe, and eat only fresh living flesh. They groan, growl, and snarl as if they try to talk as if they too were alive. Faces of malice, green peeling decaying skin and bodies. Barely recognizable as once humans but skeletons held together by whatever piece of flesh they have. But the main part of their concerns was the mass of murderers walking among each other down the messy paths. They were going to be hear for awhile.
