I always walk past the door, wondering. Wondering why it is always locked. It looks ordinary, but not including the fact that it's chained up. The house I live in itself is quaint, bright yellow with light green trim. I have not been living here for long, only about 2-3 months now. When I had gotten a tour by the earlier owner, the door wasn't chained up or anything. It was just a normal looking door, like all the other ones. The thing that was weird though, was how the owner had to leave just when we got to the door. We were walking up the stairs, and just when we were about to reach the door, the lady's phone began to ring. She had muttered a quick "sorry, got to go," and run out in her fancy heels. The next day, when I woke up, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the door, all chained up! I decided to look around it and saw nothing of particular interest. So peculiar! It was normal only the other day, I had thought, confused.
After that day I tried not to pay any attention to it. To stop wasting all my valuable time and energy thinking about it. I am still unpacking anyways, even though it's been a while since I have moved in. It's so calm in the state of Connecticut. I did expect it when I moved but wasn't prepared for the quiet area. I used to live in New York, where everything was sped up. I barely even know anyone here yet, and I think it's mostly because I'm a very introverted person. My friends in New York always used to say I was more suited for a solitary home at the beach, because I was such a reserved person. That's why I'm a writer. I love writing about fantasy and fiction because it allows me to make up a new world for my fantastical characters to live in. I've been running out of ideas lately, so I needed a new, fresh place to start my new story. That's when I decided to move to Connecticut.
