Erina never knew much about Dio however the few instances where they interacted were far from pleasant. And after stealing her first kiss, a traumatizing unforgettable incident, she never crossed paths with the man.
Erina could never view him as an innocent person or even kind. Hearing that he was going to be a lawyer made her think of all the ways he could use it to do wicked things and she wasn't wrong. It was all just a game to Dio but he was always careful and never slipped. So with time the worries slipped from her mind, that is until now.
She didn't know how but Dio was involved but she could feel it. He was on the verge of smirking throughout the court session and looked murderous at the arrival of Speedwagon. It was as if Dio already deemed him dead and gone. But that proves nothing about him being involved. If only she had a clue, something to prove his guilt.
×××Jonathan was released from custody since Speedwagon had claimed him innocent. But he feels no joy, Speedwagon's injures were not healed enough for him to move about and yet he had come for him. While he feels grateful to be saved and relief from seeing his friend alive. His reckless actions caused Speedwagon to nearly death twice.
His friend is in a life threatening situation slipping in and out of consciousness and it is all his fault. Jonathan had been advised against it by everyone but he insisted it to be the right thing to do. He had the right to know or so Jojo had thought. His decision nearly killed Speedwagon and perhaps himself too. He would have known eventually it's not like he even cared.
If only he hadn't send that letter to him, to Dio. His arrival at the funeral was nothing short of utterly useless. He insulted the dead and the living showing respect to neither. Even in Jonathan's tired and grieving state Dio still managed to make him simmer in anger. However he didn't have it the worst, it was Speedwagon who took the brunt of Dio's stay in his stead. Perhaps if they never met that time if they didn't irritate each other to hell and back. If Dio hadn't left glaring at Speedwagon then maybe he wouldn't be on the brink of death.
If only Jonathan hadn't been so intended on befriending Dio even after all the cruel things he Dio did to him. Speedwagon and Erina had both told him it was best to leave Dio alone, he brings only trouble. 'I have to give him a chance, I have to try, he isn't that bad' I had said. And look how it cost me how it cost all who are dear to me. 'I was naive but now I will find him and make him pay for all he has done not just to me but everyone.'
××Few days after Jojo's release Dio vanished without a trace. Speedwagon had fallen into a coma. The doctor who had treated him was dead. And all Erina could do was watch as Jojo full of righteous anger went in search of Dio. His archeological work and trips long forgotten.
Earlier it had been his work and now his brother. Erina was once again left behind. She knew he didn't want to take her along for her safety but she wished she could do something instead of being a burden.
Theses days it's lucky to gets a letter or two from Jojo every couple of months. Jonathan never had the best handwriting nor phrasing but he was never as messy, vague and rushed. From what little insight she gains on Jojo she fears he is changing, his anger towards Dio seems to only grow stronger and darker. She doesn't know how much longer she can do this, to hope and to wait for him to return or be the same.
