"So miss Powell, do you know what you're accused of?"

"Yes. Murder."

I couldn't believe I would find myself in a place like this. I was destinated for success, a rising star.  A criminal record was unacceptable. My dream of having a loving family with the perfect job would be ruined, all because of one mistake. But I couldn't help myself.

The police officer looked at me in a judging way, like he wouldn't expect anything of that sort from a person like me. I wasn't surprised, I probably looked frightened and vulnerable at that moment.

"So tell us Jane, what were you doing at the moment?"

"Can I consult my lawyer? I have the right to do so."

"You don't have to but I can't not allow you to . Follow me, I'll show you the way to the phone. You get one phone call."

"Thank you, officer. "

I followed her through a narrow hallway. The police stacion was very busy, everyone was running around and many phones were ringing at the same time. The whole heavy and busy atmosphere made me a little bit anxious and uneasy.

"Remember what I told you. This isn't your cellphone, you get one call to the lawyer. Make it quick."

I grabbed the phone and dialed the number. I learned an amount of phone numbers from qualified lawyers. I knew that I would need them, I knew I would be caught.

" This is Christopher Myers' office. How may I help you? "

It wasn't him on the phone, just an assistant.

"Hello, I am Jane Powell can I talk to Mr. Myers please? It's kind of urgent."

"I'll ask him right away. Just a second."

Glancing at the police officer she pointed at her wrist and mouthed "Be quick."

"This is Christopher Myers. Jane?"

"Hi Mr. Myers, I am at the Boston Police headquarters and I need you to represent me in a case."

"Well you're very lucky Jane because I don't have any appointments for today."

We talked for a few minutes about the pricing and some details and he decided to come over and talk face to face. I hung up the phone and the police officer led me to a temporary room where I would stay until I was proven innocent.

Observing the room, I got chills. It contained only the necessary furniture. A simple hard bed, a drawer and a chair, nothing excessive. Even the lighting was very limited. Staying alone in this place made it seem like time wouldn't go by.

I sat down in the rock-hard bed and got lost in my thoughts. I hoped this would go as planned. There would be an interrogation, me and the lawyer would prove me innocent and I would leave. I wouldn't be suspected of such a crime, it's completely out of my character. I won't tell anything revealing to my lawyer, I don't want anyone to know that the accusations are true.

Suddenly I heard a knock on the door, and then it opened. It was the officer.

"Miss Powell, your lawyer is here."
