"You're full of crap, you know that right?!"
Talons best friend/roommate yelled in the hallway of their home.
"What I do now?!"
Talon responds back to Mya with her mouth full of popcorn, while binging her favorite show in the living room.
Mya convinces herself that Talon wasn't going to see why she was full of crap and decided to go where she was instead. When she makes it to the living room, she throws rubber gloves at Talon to get her attention.
"Girl! What is your problem?!"
Talon looks at the gloves as if they've infected her.
"My problem is, WE are supposed to be spring cleaning and I'm realizing that it's just me."
Mya ends her argument in a 'matter of fact' way.
"First of all, it's January. Second, you're the messy one not me. Everything I'm in charge of in this house is clean and stays clean. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to finish watching my sops."
Talon shoos Mya off and throws the rubber gloves back at her. She pushes play on her remote and gets back into what she was watching.
Mya gives her a death stare and walks off. What Talon told her wasn't wrong, she isn't the most organized or clean person. Than she started to wonder if she wasn't naturally organized because her mindset wasn't.
She makes it to her room, sits on her messy bed, and grabs her phone. Mya types in the search bar,
"Does being unorganized mentally cause you to be that way in the physical?"
After hitting enter, a slew of self help articles and books popped on her phone screen. And the answer to her question was a solid YES.
At 12:30am, Talon is walking to her bathroom to do her nightly routine until she notices Myas bedroom light is on. It wasn't like Mya to be up so late, she was more of an early bird than a night owl. So she walks to her room to check on her.
"Knock, Knock. You good?"
Talon has a concerned expression on her face after asking.
Mya doesn't respond, she stares ahead as if she saw a ghost.
Talon snaps her fingers in front Myas face to wake her from her daze.
"Oh ummm...sorry. I was just in deep thought."
She stutters trying to adjust all of the knowledge she had just attained from her reading session.
Talon crawls over to the other side of Myas bed and sits right next to her.
"What's going on?"
She asks Mya.
"I'm unorganized and a hoarder. Both physically and mentally."
She replies in disbelief.
"Well thats a bit exaggerated, don't you think? Like hoarder, really?"
Talon is confused at her besties statement and wanted to know where this new logic came from.
"Are you going to tell me, what made you feel like this?"
She asks to get to the bottom of Myas issue.
"I came up with it. Then I researched it to make sure I'm not the only one. And boom...I find that there are a lot of people like me.
Have you ever noticed how I would have a hard time throwing things away or giving them away? Or me only cleaning my room when I'm about to have company over?"
Mya looks at Talon to see what she now sees.
"I mean, yeah I've noticed that. But
Mya cuts her off in mid sentence,
"Why didn't you tell me?"
She turn and looks at Mya with a attitude,
"I did! You're excuse was, 'I'll do it this weekend, I can find things a lot better when it's out in the open.' Oh and my favorite one! 'I'm not throwing or giving that away, I might need it later.' "
Talon composes herself after she gets her point across and waits for Myas rebuttal.
"You're right." She lets out a deep sigh.
"What?"
Talon is shocked by Myas response. She reaches over to check her pulse on her neck to make sure her roommate was alive.
"You know what you just said right?"
She asks just to make sure she's not losing it.
"Yeah, I have a lot of unloading to do. So I'm going to go to therapy. It's not your burden to bare all of my short comings. I'm sorry I've been a bad roomie."
Mya starts to get emotional after her apology.
Talon smiles at her and grabs her hand for support and says,
"I'm here for you no matter what. Plus we can all use some therapy."
Her last statement was a comedic relief to Mya and she starts to chuckle while tears roll down her face. She wipes her tears,
"Wow! I guess you can say I just had my first break through. I just don't know if I'm ready for the others that will come."
Talon and Mya had been best friends for 10 years. Talon saw a lot of her best friend depressions and Mya has seen hers. But as 26 year olds it was a different lane for them both.
"We are resilient. We will do this together."
Mya looks in her friends direction for reassurance,
"Together?"
Talon smiles and nods,
"Together."
