***PROLOGUE***
A wet, salty orb shattered like sparkling glass as it hit the soft soil. It had been storming for a few hours now, the rain and the thundering cries seemed like they would never end. The source of the storm had often been called a storm himself, out of fear. But this was a different kind of storm; a storm of sorrow. Never in his 907 years of bountiful life had he experienced such pain, anguish, and grief. But most of all: guilt. The storm from his reddened eyes had formed a large puddle, or a small pond one might say. After some minutes, the storm began to lighten, not because the man no longer felt this void of sorrow, but because he had run out of rain to shed. The pond began to gradually sink into the soil at his knees; soil not far from a house. Once, a little girl lived in that house. Hers was the first face his ever saw. She waited for him, and he took her into his world, his many worlds of endless wonder and shining stars. In time, he grew to love her, and her ember red hair, her frosty blue eyes, her quiet smirk at his humorous rambling. Then, her husband, the awkwardly amazing age-old centurion joined them, and they flew away in the storming man's impossible little box. They were the source of his endlessly eternal grief now. He had lost them, as he had lost countless others in the past. But this was different, they weren't just ordinary companions to him. Now, the Ponds were long gone. He blamed himself, but in truth, only fate was at fault. He needed to forget his never-ending sorrow. He needed to fly away.

River Song had just made a huge mistake.
She was at the Intergalactic Shopping Mall on planet Bellaphores, looking for some new clothes, some shoes, and the latest in concealable weapons. The mall was one of the largest shopping centers in the universe, covering at least a quarter of the planet - only slightly larger than Earth.
River had just bought some tranquilizer earings from a lovely Ribosian saleswoman. While she was turning to say "Thank you," to the vendor on her way out of the shop, she accidently bumped into a Sonataran officer who was entering at the same time.
"Hey! Watch where you're going boy!" he shouted at her. "I will have you steamed in acid for the glory of the Sontaran empire for your lack of respect!"
