As his mind came back to him, Rem realized that he was no longer in the "lake", but was instead on solid ground. Staggering to his feet, still unsteady from his near-death encounter, he couldn't understand what had happened. He was standing on the crest of the hill he had just seen a tank cross what seemed like moments ago.

'Did I pass out?' he wondered, gazing out across the field he had just been drowning in. Distracted by the view and sheer mysteriousness of the past events, he had, until then, failed to notice a young woman standing a few feet away. Rem turned just in time to see her backside as she was descending the hill on the side opposite the lake. She looked, from behind, to be close to his age, maybe eighteen or twenty. She had long, straight black hair the color of midnight. She was slim and unusually tall; she must've been nearly seven feet!

Even more strange than her size was her clothing. She was wearing a black shirt with long sleeves. The cuffs were flared out wider than the rest of the sleeve, making her arms seem even longer than they were. She was wearing a skirt too, and it was quite short. Less striking, but also strangely, she was wearing a single red glove on her left hand.

She was walking westwards down onto a grassy, but less soggy, plain. He wasn't going to let her just leave though. This was a war zone. She wouldn't be safe without some kind of escort. Besides, Rem owed her; he assumed she had been the one who had pulled him out of the lake when he had passed out.

"Wait!" he yelled out ot her, speaking French, for that was, after all, the country he was in and he knew a little of the language. "What happened while i was unconscious? Where did that tank go?"

"You weren't unconscious," she responded in english, "and the tank has been gone for a long time, you could say." As she was talking, she completed her descent of the hill. Rem started to slowly follow her. After all, there was no cover, so if someone were to attack her, he could see them from a distance and he could easily shoot them with his sidearm before they reached her.

"What do you mean I wasn't unconscious? How did I get up here if you didn't move me?" She wasn't making any sense at all!

"I never said I didn't move you. I just did it so fast you didn't notice the transition."

Deciding she was nuts, he decided to change to a more mundane topic. "What's your name, anyways?" he asked her.

"My name? Most call me Sara, but that's not my real name."

So how's chapter two, guys? I feel like the dialogue isn't that great. I'll probably come through and edit this chapter once or twice, but i want to get all my ideas out when i come up with them. I'll come through later and refine it all while i'm working on the plot. i'm pulling story outta my(excuse my French) ass here. (edit) I've actually got a story now *gasp*
