"You just went up two ranks higher on my hate list."

- Chapter VI

The trial ended on the Survey Corps' favor. The judge agreed to put Eren under Levi's command and send them on a mission outside the walls.

And guess what? Shantal was ordered to tag along with them by none other than Supreme Commander Dallis Zacklay himself. Apparently, he thought  Shantal had a romantic relationship with Eren because of her seemingly overprotectiveness..

She almost killed herself right then and there. The idea of being with Levi—for god knows how long—made her want to jump off the walls. And worst? She had to be under his command for their time outside the walls. She had to take orders from him.

"That was so mean of him. It must hurt a lot." Hanji stated as she dabbed a ball of cotton on Eren's scraped and swollen face.

Shantal rolled her eyes as she sat down beside Eren. "The correct way of saying it, is that he's an asshole and a show off." Not knowing that Erwin arrived with Levi, she continued ranting.

"He shoved me! Can you believe it? The nerve of that clean freak. And why the heck should I be stuck with him?!" She was shaking with fury. Upon hearing this, Levi's brow twitched.

"Don't worry, I loathe this situation as much as you do. And I merely brushed you aside. Not shove you." This time, it was Shantal's turned to whip her head towards his direction and raise one brow.

"Excuse me? It was so damn clear that you shoved me! Everybody saw what happened, right?" She looked around, but the people present inside the room either looked away, or kept silent. They didn't want to get in between a stone and a hard place. Both were equally menacing.

"Cowards!" She huffed and slumped on her seat. Eren sweated with the tension around the room. He didn't want to be kicked by the Corporal, and he didn't want to anger the Major.

"Eren, did it hurt?" Hanji asked to break the silence.

"A l-little." Hanji gasped and grinned.

"Where's the pain?" Shantal groaned at this.

"Hanji, please stop scaring him." Hanji just laughed and continued what she was doing.

"Sorry about doing that. But as a result, we got you for ourselves. Your pain was worth our gain." Erwin knelt in front of Eren with his rare smiles.

"Thank you." Eren's eyes widened when Erwin offered his hand to shake.

"I look forward to working with you, Eren." He snapped out of his star struck mode and shook Erwin's hand.

"Likewise, sir!"

Eren jumped in fear when Levi sat on the couch with them. His hand draped on the couch behind Shantal.

"Say, Eren. Do you hate me?" He asked with his emotionless voice.

"N-No, sir. I understand that it was necessary." Shantal clicked her tongue in disapproval. She gripped Levi's face and made him look at her.

"He doesn't. But I do, Corporal. I hate you." Levi put his face closer towards hers. So close they were only an inch apart.

"Likewise, Major."

"Ehem ehem," Hanji cleared her throat and they immediately distanced themselves from each other. Both facing opposite sides of the room.

"Anyway, Levi, you should have held back a little. You even broke his tooth." Hanji looked at Eren with sympathy, showing the tooth wrapped in her handkerchief.

"Tch. Don't pick that up. That's disgusting."

"It's an important sample for me. Hey Eren, can you open your mouth?" Eren did what she said and she gasped with her eyes widened. Everyone gave her their full attention—curious of what she discovered.

"His tooth... already grew back."

Shantal sat in front of Erwin's table. She had been summoned here right after they talked to Eren.

"You can't go. It's too dangerous." He said—probably for the hundredth time. This conversation had been going for a long time. He was so against to her going outside the walls.

"But I want to. Besides, its Zacklay's orders. You can't possibly go against the Supreme commander, right?" she asked with her arms crossed. Still, his gaze didn't waver. She sighed.

"Erwin, I have to go. Eren's going to be there." She was trying to get it through him that she had to go. By all means. She had to keep Eren away from being titan fodder.

"I don't care. Levi's with him. You don't have to go." Here we go again. She rolled her eyes and stood up.

"I'm wasting my time here. I'm sorry, Erwin, but I'm still going to go no matter what you say." She turned to take her leave when he spoke again.

"I will demote you." He said sternly and Shantal stopped on her tracks. How dare he blackmail her with her position.

She felt betrayed.

Steeling her resolve, she spoke.

"Do what you want."

They were riding on their horses, when Oluo started yapping about in his retarded way of talking.

"Don't get cocky, new blood." He stated in what could be barely identified as an attempt to sound suave.

"I don't know the deal with this crap about you being a titan, but we can't have captain Levi babysit—" he cut himself off—quite literally—when he accidentally bit his tongue.

"Serves him right." Shantal scoffed to herself. She didn't run with the group. She was a few meters behind them, mainly for two reasons: one, she hated them. And two, she hated Levi.

"It's covered in weeds. There's probably a sea of dust waiting for us inside." Eld stated as he faced the old castle.

"Then we must sort this out immediately." Clean freak mode, on.

The soldiers were assigned places to clean.

"U-Um, I'll go tell the corporal that were done cleaning here." Eren stuttered. Shantal remained focused on the book she's reading and only replied with a hum. She sat on a now-clean-sofa with her favorite book in hand. And yes, she never had a thing to do with cleaning the room. She hated cleaning as much as she hated Levi.

She was so engrossed in her book that she did not notice Levi come inside the room.

"Oi brat, do you call this cleaning? This is shit." Shantal looked up from her book and saw the emotionless captain by the door.

"Then go tell Eren to do it over. Stop disturbing me." She returned to her book, and ignored him.

Yanking her book away from her, he proceeded to throw it out the window.

"Hey! That's mine!" He stopped in his tracks and faced her.

"You can't get this back until this room is spotless. You hear me? Spotless." She stood up and stomped towards the pale, the mop, and the broom.

Looking at him with challenging eyes, she kicked the pale—spilling the dirty water around the room.

"Do it yourself. Clean freak." Levi marched towards her and gripped the collar of her jacket.

"Listen, you little shit. You are under my command, so you have to do to everything I say. If I tell to eat horse shit, then eat horse shit. And if I tell you to clean, you fucking clean. Got it?" Anyone would have pissed their pants by now, but not her.

Her expression changed from pissed to amused. She pulled him down by his cravat, and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Really now?" She chuckled. "Trust me, Corporal," she put her lips near his left ear. "you can't make me behave." she whispered before kissing his cheek near the side of his lips.

She strutted out of the room, leaving the corporal in a dumbfounded and furious state.
