Bea gazes into the mirror hastily fixing her dirty blonde hair into a bun and touching up her makeup, she was a beautiful girl, or so she was told, but she saw herself as anything but. She was getting ready to go out for lunch with yet another blind date her mother had set her up with, however she could not care less.
"Bea, Sweetie its time to go." My Mother spoke softly in a sickeningly sweet voice. She took my hand and led me to the car.
'What's up Mothers never this sweet towards me... gee, she must really like this one.' I thought as I looked at the frost covered yards of my neighbours as Mother drove past. After ten or so minutes, Mother pulls into a car park of a small cosy looking café. My mother looks at me with an obviously forced smile as she sees my hesitance to go inside and meet this one. I take that as a clue to hurry up before I get shouted at and head to the arched wooden door. I gather myself before I head in... 'C'mon Bea just fake it till you make mum happy.' I step inside and get blasted with warm air emanating from the open fire in the back of the cozy café. This was a nice change from the brisk winters breeze that was blowing on me just moments ago.
A tall blonde hair, blue eyed man stepped forward wearing a dress shirt, white pants and a tie. "You must be Beatrix," I cringe at the use of my full name as he grabbed my hand and kissed it "Aaden, the pleasure is mine." I nod and give him a small smile as he leads me to a table close to the small white brick fireplace. We sit and talk for a bit and I try my best to dig up some dark secrets to make my mother dislike him. Despite my best efforts I cant find a single thing that would make him look bad, he's exactly my mothers type. Maybe I could turn him off me instead?
When the waiter comes around to take our orders, I make sure to order the sugariest, most fattening thing they offer. Plus, a coffee, everyone has to love some coffee. Just a few minutes later they arrive with our food. He has a toasted ham and cheese sandwich and some water, and I have a large slice of chocolate cake and coffee. He looked at me with a touch of disgust as I take a large mouthful of the sweet cake.
"Cake for lunch? Seems pretty unhealthy if you ask me." He says mainly to himself. I simply ignore him and counted eating my cake. After a while he tries to raise conversation as I reach for my coffee. In all honesty it was an accident, he startled me. I spilt my coffee. It runs in seemingly slow motion onto his lap. 'Oh God help me; Mother will be so mad.'
I run. I run before I heard him shout or he threw hands at me. I don't know why, I guess fight or flight. I left the warmth of the café and ran into the carpark without looking back. I see my mothers car still parked in the carpark but thankfully she's not in it; if she was in that car she'd have my head. I ran through the car park and just as I'm about to exit I hear Aaden's loud voice.
"Your mother promised a graceful young lady, who was fair and beautiful. She described the perfect wife. However, you are anything but." He grabbed my shoulder and turned me around to see the stain I had left on his white dress pants. "You will pay for these than never see me again. Honestly you should show me some more respect, I am above you. My family is rich and works for the biggest for miles church." I go to apologize but he pushes me aside and goes to his car and revs the engine and drives off.
Just after Aaden drove off my mother comes over with a sour look on her face. "Care to explain?"
"No." I reply honestly and walk back into the café. As soon as I get back into the café the sweet girl who served us walks up to me.
"Oh thank god your back, I thought you had left without your coat and without paying. Let me go fetch your coat real quick!" She hummed to herself as she walked away. Cmon Bea contain yourself, she's cute. Yes, but mothers right there.
She comes back with my coat and holds it out for me to put on. I do so but not without a blush raising on my cheeks.
"Thank-you." I mutter, just then my mother walks in.
"Oh! So you act nice around her, but not any rich, kind and handsome man I find for you. What are you? Gay." She practically spits at me.
I cant be bothered hiding it from her anymore, it's not up to her who I choose to love.
"So what if I am?"
