the small brunette organized his room at 6 am, rummaging through his suitcases and placing all of his stuff exactly where it needed to be. he just got back from summer camp the night before, and spent hours and hours fixing up his room after his own mother trashed it. ever since she caught him with his diary, she has been looking for it ever since. little does she know eddie hides it in the small wooden box outside, the thing they call a library, and she hasn't seen it since then.

eddie's alarm went off an hour later, specifically ten after 7, and eddie was absolutely exhausted. he hauled himself from his desk, grabbing his yellow hoodie with the word honey on it in capitals. it was a small print where his heart was, and one of his favourites. it went well with the jean shorts he was wearing.

the boy took it upon himself to brush his teeth, brush his hair, until finally he was ready for school. mondays weren't exactly the greatest days for eddie. he steps out of the house, only one of his backpack straps on one of his shoulders, his small palms gripped tightly around it. one foot after the other, he made it to the  school's enterance. first day was always great, especially with beverly and bill to greet him every morning. they had dated before, but only for two weeks before they decided they were better off as friends. and it wasn't those lets say we'll stay friends and then never talk again situations; they actually were still just as close as before they were an item.

the petite brunette made his way passed the bunches of teens, slipping through them with ease due to his height. he was just over 5 foot, and looked 13 despite being 5 years older. he made his way towards his locker, almost getting there before he was stopped by a certain red headed girl.

“hey, beverly,” he beamed, his yellow nails being revealed as he did a small handshake with the girl.

“whats up, man?” bev asked.

“not much, where's bill?”

“ah, who knows where he is these days. hes been hanging out with the jocks lately, and honestly? its getting pretty annoying,” the girl's gum popped in her mouth as she spoke.

the bell rang, signalling class was beginning and that they only had a few minutes go get to class before they wete officially late. eddie hollered beverly goodbye as he skidded down the halls, making it to class just on time to see everyone taking their seats. he shuddered as the only other seat was beside the infamous richie tozier. the boy with charming hair that rested rather messily on his sharp cheekbones, and the contacts that brought out his freckles a lot more than the glasses he wore until he was 14. he moved onto contacts, and it made him a lot scarier now. everyone was afraid of the richie tozier. in eddie's eyes, he was absolutely terrifying. glaring 24/7, crosses his arms and taps his foot a ton, probably a lot like danny zuko from the way he dressed, and not to mention hes a whopping 6'1''.

reluctantly, eddie rested his bottom on the seat beside richie, resting his chin in his palm and trying to act cool. he succeeded on LOOKING calm, despite panicking inside his head. fuck fuck fuck fuck- what if he lunges at me if i look at him? what if he gets pissed when i dont look at him? unnecessary thoughts resulted from paranoia lead to eddie picking at his painted nails.

the curly haired loner, richie tozier, leaned against his chair as the sweet kid of the school, eddie kaspbrak, sat next to him. he pursed his lips and raised his eyebrows in surprise. deciding to use this as an opportunity to make friends with the giddy boy, he stared and took a deep breath. in those few seconds, richie caught all of the small things about eddie and compliment them. his eyes, his hair, but most importantly, his thighs. richie was a total sucker for thighs. he licked his lips at eddie, but quickly readjusted so his legs were crossed lazily.

“it's eddie, right?”

eddie's heart stopped momentarily as richie whispered in his ear, sending shivers down eddie's spine. he glanced at richie, nodding before looking back at the board. seconds of silence filled the room, rather than the teachers chalk tapping on the chalkboard as he wrote down his lesson. eddie stared at the board, trying to mute out richie's poor attempts at socializing; something he rarely did.

richie's only friends were the ones who smoked, and even then, they weren't even real friends. richie just smoked with them from time to time.

“eddie, listen to me,” he growled. when eddie continued to stay silent, richie sighed and gave up. eddie noticed the change in richie's mood, and for a split second, his expression softened. only for a second.

“richie tozier, right?” he muttered, leaning to the side as he spoke. richie nodded in response. and- just then- richie almost smiled at the boy. he didnt, but if he had, his reputation would be demolished. he liked the feeling of being feared and hated, and if he were to actually grin at eddie? they'd all know he was a softie.

“yeah, im sure you'd know. hey, can i call you eds? you know, short for eddie,” he asked, his voice low enough for just eddie to hear. in result, eddie let out a soft giggle that made richie's heart melt.

“eddie is already short for edward, dumbass,” he laughed, but cut it off quickly once realizing he totally jusy insulted richie. however, richie only smirked in fascination.

“you really want to pick a fight with me, eddie spaghetti?” richie offered a crooked smile, totally forgetting about the reputation he was previously trying to keep.

“dont call me that. its eddie,” eddie retorted, and for once, he wasn't nervous around the supposedly rude richie tozier.

“whatever you say, eds.”

heres the first chapter! i made this, as you probably read, to organize it a lot more than my first one.
