"He's dangerous I tell ya. When I was a young lad, the horrible beast grabbed me by the leg and nearly tore me body in half." A drunken man of about fifty years old exclaimed, waving his arms around the old pub, telling everyone about his journey up the dreaded north mountain... where the beast lurks.
Everyone, bunches up, gasping when the man would go right up to their faces and scream, "HE'S GONNA EAT YA IF YOU CHALLENGE HIM!!!"
"And how did you survive such a dreaded creature, sir?" A young man stepped forward. He had scruffy hair, a flannel shirt and a backpack nearly the same size as him.
"Young man, why do you question me?" The drunk man snapped, stroking his grey, curly beard.
"Well, you only seemed to be scaring people, not telling them your experiences and how you survived."
This question brought murmurs throughout the pub as the drunk man looked around, "SILENCE!!"
killing all the noise that was in the room. The man then paused and using the table to keep himself standing, he glared at the twenty-year-old.
"Well... young man you'd better come with me and we'll sit and chat." He said, pointing to an empty table, hiding behind a brick.
They both sat down on either side of the table, facing each other. The room, still silent, till the old man asked, "What's your name again?"
"Oscar, but I um, I never actually said my name."
"Oh... hey, why are you so interested in the north mountain and that kind of crap anyway kid?" The old man asked.
"Well, sir, I was actually thinking of going to climb the north mountain and see the Black Hound myself."
The man's jaw dropped to his knees and his eyes widened.
" YOU WHAT?!? I mean... you want to see... the hound for yourself?! He whisper/ yelled. Oscar nodded, making the old man rock back in his chair, stroking his beard once more."Uncle Alf... Uncle Alf... Alfred... ALFRED!!" Screamed a boy who was around the same age as Oscar. He has curly blonde hair, a black shirt, jeans and an indigo apron which went down to his knees. Oscar noticed him, storming out of the pub/kitchen, glaring at the old man, still in deep thought.
"Hmm? Oh hey, Stevie. Oscar this is my nephew Stevie. Stevie this is Oscar, he's interested in the Black Hound and the north mountain... sifierfidveifosgdkvkfkvidjgjcidhruf sjfiduzucidisifjrusidhdgsjfhdiaosuf." Alf continued. Stevie glared at Oscar with his dark, beady eyes until Alf had finished, Stevie then looked around, then sat in the corner with the two, giving Oscar the idea that Stevie wants in on the conversation.
" So... ya wanna climb the north mountain and see the hound for ya self?" He asked, in a husky voice, similar to Alf's. Oscar nodded in agreement.
" Yeah? Well, you'll see it alright-" Stevie was saying till he was cut off by Alf.
"And when ya do, it will rip you into ten hundred pieces and eat you, craping your unwanted flesh once he's finished." continued Alf, Oscar's eyes filled with fear but Stevie had a different face, telling Alf to cut the bullshit.
Alright, alright, I'll tell ya, I didn't see the beast but... I knew that something was always watching me but even though I didn't know what it was. I remember the first time I set up camp: in my sleep, I would wake up to a mess out the front of my camp, with the snow covered in large footprints." Alf continued, Oscar was holding himself, trembling in fear, rethinking the idea of climbing.
Alf, who was signalling Stevie, walked over to the kitchen door, holding it open until Stevie followed him.
Oscar still sitting at the table, could just see the two, arguing through the small, round windows at the tops of the doors.STEVIE'S P.O.V:
Alf closed the door as I followed him into the kitchen. He stood there, staring at me, playing with his utterly disgusting beard, smiling slightly at me.
"I've got it!" Alf suddenly yelled
"Got what?"
"you could go with him, your an experienced climber and you have fought most of those horrible creatures up there."
I looked at my old uncle and then at Oscar, still sitting at the table,
he's kinda cute and his beautiful deep blue eyes... you could get lost in them. WAIT... WHAT AM I SAYIN?!? I thought,
noticing that Oscar was staring right back at me. Our eyes locked on each other,
is he blushing? No! He's Not that's crazy talk Stevie!
quickly look back at my uncle and notice that he is smiling at me, it was I smile that I had never seen before.
"Wait... you want me to do what?!"
"I want you to go with him, you can help him." Alf replied.
"Uhhhg... fine I'll go with him."
"Wonderful!" Alf says with a small skip in his step.
"I'm gonna go tell Oscar the news," he said before opening the door, "ya comin?" he asked holding the door for me.
"Uhh... I'll just get back to work I think customers are getting restless." I say with a sigh, Alf gives me a small nod and lets go of the door, it swings back and shuts. I'm still on the other side, watching the two through the window, I noticed Alf pointing back at the door so I quickly hid behind the wall.
Ohhhhh SHIT! THE KITCHEN STAFF HAS BEEN WATCHING ME THIS WHOLE TIME!? I yelled in my head as I noticed everyone I knew watching me. I smile awkwardly and slip out the door to serve some customers.OSCAR'S P.O.V
When I saw Stevie walk out the door, I immediately knew that something was up. He would constantly look at me then quickly look away and... I think I noticed him blush a bit. I continued to watch him, not in a creepy way, serve the customers. He was so kind and gentle, the way he glided on the carpet handing out menus, refilling peoples water jugs and his soft voice which was so calming to hear.
"Anyway... you good with Stevie tagging along? Oscar?" Alf asked. I nodded slightly, my eyes still focused on Stevie's beautiful smile. Oh crap is he coming over? What will I do, what will I do? At that moment Stevie came over, my heart skipped a beat and my face lit up I was so glad that he was coming with me.
"Um... I'm gonna go get changed and pack and the we can go is that all right?" Stevie asked. Again I nodded slightly, Stevie grinned and we both blushed, I think Alf knew what was going on because he began to smirk and said that he would leave us to it. We stopped blushing and Stevie went inside the kitchen again, taking his apron off.
I can't believe I just fell for a guy that I only just met and I don't even think that he likes me because every time Alf talks about the trip up the mountain, Stevie glares at me, no I can't think like that, I need to focus and get on with my journey so I can show my father how brave I am and I can prove my worth to him.
