4 years old: molested, counseling started

"No Daddy stop. I don't like that." Amelia begged, crying. Amelia was trying to take a bath when she was visiting her father. It didn't end well.

"We would like to admit your daughter, Ms. Banks." The psychiatric doctor told Amanda. Amelia was sitting in a chair not knowing that the people in the room were discussing her fate.

Amanda looks down at Amelia with tears in her eyes. Amelia looks up with a big smile and says, "What's wrong mommy? When can we go home?" It was then that Amanda knew she couldn't give up her baby girl.

"We will soon sweetheart." Amanda said with a small smile. She then turned to the doctor and said, "I will have her do counseling but I am not letting my baby grow up here." The doctor nodded and started to get things ready to leave.

A few months later: stabbed mom, counseling increased

"Amelia calm down!" Amanda said frantically. Amelia had a butchers knife and was cutting an onion on the floor. Amanda saw this and tried to take it away. Amelia is currently throwing a fit and Amanda is scared to death that Amelia will hurt herself or someone else.
Amelia then lashed out suddenly and stabbed Amanda in the hand. Amanda had no time to move away and tried to block the knife. The neighbor lady heard screaming and called 911.

This was the second time Amelia was threatened to be put in the psych ward. Once again Amanda refused to let her daughter live there. Amanda had already gotten stitches. The cut was very deep and she had to have 20 stitches but like a good mother she took Amelia home that night and they watched a movie.

6 years old: tried to drown brothers, admitted to psych ward

Amanda had two sons when Amelia was 5. Amelia had calmed down and was not acting rash. Amanda was giving the boys a bath. The phone rang and she took the boys out of the tub and set them on the floor as to not drown them. Amelia had been trying to get Amanda's attention but Amanda was busy with the boys. When Amelia saw Amanda without the boys she wanted attention.

"Mommy, can we play now?"

"Not now, Amelia. Mommy's on the phone." Amanda said in a hushed tone.

"Mommy! You said we could play later! IT'S LATER MOMMY!" Amelia went from wining to screaming.

"Amelia! Stop it! I said 'not now'!" Amanda exclaimed. She went back to the phone call.
Amelia was very angry. She just knew it was all her brothers' fault. They kept all of Amanda's attention. Amelia crept upstairs and found the boys in the bathroom. She slowly picked them up and put them in the bath. After she had the both in the tub she pushed their heads down in the water emotionlessly.
They started to scream. Amanda heard them and ran up the stairs, not caring what happened to the phone. She raced into the bathroom and pulled Amelia off of them as quick as she could. She then grabbed the boys. They thankfully were ok but she still called 911 to get help knowing she couldn't leave Amelia alone.

Amanda was bawling her eyes out as she hugged her sons.

Amelia ran down stairs, screaming. "NO! THEY TAKE AWAY ALL YOUR TIME! YOUR MY MOMMY NOT THEIRS!" Amelia then went into a fit of rage. She started to throw and hit things. She then started to hit Amanda trying to hurt the boys. Amanda just cradled the screaming babies and protected them from her enraged daughter.

The police had just arrived and saw through a window of what was happening. They knew Amanda wouldn't be able to answer the door so they kicked it down. They quickly subdued the frantic child.

Amanda, Amelia and the boys were taken to the hospital. Amelia was taken to the psych ward, while Amanda had the boys checked out. When she saw that they were fine she called her sister, Sheila to come get them.
After the boys were taken care of Amanda went to Amelia. The doctors then talked to Amanda in hushed tones, "We will admit her. If you do not let us have her then we will call Child Protective Services on you."

"What for?" Amanda asked, with tears in her eyes.

"Keeping her endangers your sons and she needs constant supervision. Keeping her will also be ignoring her needs as you cannot give her what she needs."

Amanda wanted to protest but she knew what they were saying was true. She didn't want to give up her baby but she knew it was what she had to do. She looked over to Amelia and her tears finally broke free. She knew this would be the last time that she saw Amelia for a very long time. She nodded weakly and said, "I just want what's best for her." The doctors looked at her with sad and pitiful eyes. The nurse then took her to sign the papers.

They said goodbye but neither of them knew that that would be the last time they would ever see each other.
